Make the forum more Android general?

Just thinking out loud here but now there are so many variations of the scroll tablets would it be worth making the forums more based generally around scroll type Android tablets?

Noticed that for instance Suggsy had a Yarvik (I think that's what its called, its the same as the Extreme) and I had a Tablo 7" (same as Excel) before my Extreme, I have also seen JoyTAB devices made by a UK company that look the same.

There are not many places you can go for help with these devices (unless you are very techy and want to go and look on XDA etc) and I think this forum could be a good place to help not just scroll owners but scroll type Android tablet owners in gerneral. After all they all run the same firmware.

Just throwing the idea out there

Edit - spelt Android wrong in title doh! Have also reworded slightly as I don't think I was very clear with what I was trying to get accross. I didn't mean any android tablet but the generic Chinese ones that the scroll, tablo, yarvik etc are based on.

Thanks for your suggestions and input Johnny, you have a point - it's noted and maybe something to work towards.
Cheers.

Hi Johnny,
I hear where you are coming from but there may be a few things about the forum that you don't yet realise.
Storage Options, who supply the Scroll range of tablets in the UK have a link on their website to this forum.
They don't run the forum but because they offer little to no support on their tablets lots of people come here because this is the only forum out there that specialises on the Scroll tablets.

In Shenzhen, Guangdong, China are hundreds of factories bashing out tens of thousands of android tablets and other computers each and every day. The amount of people employed in this vast area is estimated to be the same as all the peoople who currently live in Leeds. Many of these tablets are rebadged in this country like suggsy's Yarvik which has exactly the same specification as the Scroll Extreme. There is also the MoMo 7 and 9 which match the Scroll Excel and the Extreme respectively and there are several others too.
Because Storage Options feel unable to offer their customers much support, dedicated developers like Suggsy89 and Mitre and Charlie (if I missed you I apologise) use these equivalent brand Allwinner A10 based tablets so they can get updates and Roms from their respective distributers who offer more suppoort than Storage Options. When these distributers offer updates etc they can then be tested and worked on as necessary modifying and optimising by the devs who freely give their time to bring you a better tablet experience when they eventually post their Scroll updates.

I hope this answers your query but if you still feel the need to work in a wider tablet area there are many other forums which do cover the big-brand names.

Ah, I didn't realise that storage options had anything to do with the forum, I thought it was more of a fan/user type thing.

Wouldn't have bought it up otherwise.

@ Johnny,

Storage Options don't have anything to do with the forum other than that the developers on here choose to support their (Scroll) tablets, so people who buy from them can get a better tablet experience.
The Forum has nothing to do with Storage Options other than that they provide a link to this forum presumably because they choose not to offer support themselves. Hope that makes sense.

Understood. I wasn't sure from the previous post, I thought you we're suggesting there was some kind of relationship with SO in place.

I wasn't personally looking to work in any wider area myself but having found the forum initially when I had a Tablo (now the wife's) it has come in handy for that too (even though Tablo has a forum of sorts it's not as active or good as this one).

Thanks Johnny, its nice to get some friendly feedback - as you no-doubt realise the tablo is yet another rebadged Allwinner A10 - same as the Excel.

we have spoken about this in the mods area and i too would like to see it happen we have absolutly no connection to storage options other than the fact that this forum was set up by someone who had purchased a scroll tablet
the allwinnerA10 based devices that are known to be from the same production line could all be deved on this forum
the next CPU's are starting to become available so once we can see a generic link as to whos using what hardware we may start to adopt more devices but its ultimatly up to admin how this is introduced
you could help us by sending the tablo boys over here

I think the Tablo people may object to me linking through to here on their forum because of the name of the site otherwise I would post something.

Don't want to get banned!

I don't post much on theirs anyway. It is more of a support site. Have seen posts on other androidy forums from Tablo owners though, when I was looking around for ICS.

If Tablo do an extreme then people who get that would definately benefit from Suggsy's 4.0.4 rom. Hardly anyone seems to have 4.0.4 yet!
