stickies

as some of us may have noticed, the forum is steadily growing on almost a daily basis.
this is great news!
however... (and here's the rant)

it seems a lot of new members forgo the introduction forum and just head straight to 'help me, my scroll doesn't do something i want it/expected it too.

also, a lot of the topics are the same...how many more youtube / java / market place based topics are there going to be?

please, please tell me there is a way to force new users into posting in the introductions thread first. with a great big stickie at the top of every sub-forum with 'NEW MEMBERS READ THIS FIRST!' plastered across it?

and more references to using the forum search box before asking the same question for the eleventy-millionth time.

I apologise if i'm coming across as rude, it is not my intention. i just feel that those new members who come here for help could be able to find what they're looking for quicker than by posting another topic...and possibly not getting the answer they hoped for.

;)

hahaha, but it had to be said, before the whole forum falls into chaos, newcomers would be even more confused after having to read 30 different threads on the same topic lol

I tend to agree (I've always tried to search before asking a question when I actually do ask one) and stickie threads, especially for the frequently asked questions - would be a good idea too.

Maybe the creation of a FAQ - Read this first! thread for each major forum area, covering the questions regularly asked and what the accepted answer is, might take a few hours to draft up but I think it would be worth it in the long run.

Erm, that'd be the kind of thing! (I didn't actually check on that occasion to see if it'd previously been suggested or not, and looking at the date - HOW did I miss that, it was like 3 days ago?!)

Yep, exactly the same, said better than I did too ;-)
