following your second suggestion cache etc, there is a folder called rcovery

no, when i try logcat in the adb shell (clockwork rcovry) it gives the same error

right when you are in the cache/recovery folder can you copy all the log files out onto your sd card and then upload them somewhere for me?

"mv *.* /sd_card/recovery" or something similar

another thing for you to do is check that the folowing exist for me please. "/dev/log/*"

there is nothing in the cache/recovery folder

dev/log alse exists but nothing in it using super manager file explorer

that fine. the folder just needed to exist.
Im trying to find a copy of logcat that will work atm

you ll have to copy a file accross and then set permissions on it.
