If you are running as root you dont have to do anything other than rename them. if you start getting a force close loop then turn off the tablet and turn it back on.

Renamed the phone.apk, immediately caused an FC loop which required a reboot, scroll back on now (phew)...

Should i rename all of the phone like apk's or do one at a time and check stability? Any specific stability checks I should be making after renaming each apk?

Do them one at a time if you want. just use the thing for 5 mins after each reboot. Try all the standard stuff like the browser and gmail/market. You should be able to remove all 4 with no real problems.

Have now renamed mms.apk to mms.old, nothing to report in terms of instability, but again, the functionality of android marketplace seems to have increased. I know have access to paid for apps, along with a number of free apps e.g. amazon kindle which were previously unavailable to me via marketplace

Ok I am making a folder on mediafire that contains everything you need to do to root your Scroll: http://www.mediafire.com/?3k3zu8mntby18
Any Suggestions?
Once there is a working version of clockwork recovery I will also upload the update.zip that removes the 4 phone apks
