Once we have a working clockwork running we can make stuff like removing the phone apks into a much simpler process.
What would the suggestions be for the first update.zip? So far I think
-Remove phone apks
-Remove signal icon from notification bar (if the icon is actually there I only have screenshots on the web to look at and some seems to have it others dont)
-Update Battery icon to show % remaining in task bar?
-Include Latest version or Superuser/z4root/Terminal?
-Include android 2.3 keyboard as default

anyone want anything else? I have ever made an update.zip before but it looks relativly simple for something like this. Or someone else can get working on it?

Quick edit: Can someone provide the framework-res.apk from the Scroll for me

Fixing the dead market issues for v1.01 firmware would be nice :D

However, I feel that is a much deeper issue ...

Hi guys,
Check out:
http://teamtelechips.naobsd.org/experimental/20101212/

I unzipped recovery.NanoPad.img.zip, and used :

Code: Select all
./fastboot-linux flash recovery recovery.NanoPad.img

to push it to my Scroll. I had rooted the Scroll by this point, which is firmware version 0.94

@WarpedFlash: I've been checking out the update.zip format, and it looks pretty simple. I'm gonna have a crack at this, starting with a simple package to ease the removal of the phone apk's (even though this has already been done, consider it a training exercise for myself), and i'll go from there.

Veng - According to pwilko123 REmoving the phone related apk files has given him full market access. give that a try :)

roguelj - sweet! :D does everything work correctly in it? Nandroid backups working?
edit: I'm looking into this as well might be benifical to help each other out when it gets a bit more complex. If you are at home can you provide a copy of framework-res.apk for me? :) Then I might get you to test flashing a battery % icon for the taskbar.

@WarpedFlash - to be honest, I haven't tried, but I could boot into clockworkmod recovery mode, and go up / down the menu's - this is all I know.
I'm a bit of an Android newbie to be fair, done lots of Microsoft.NET coding, but Java, the Android platform, clockworkmod, cyanogen, etc is all new to me.

Yeah I saw that.

Hopefully when I do the full root/clockwork/backup/update.zip all my problems will fall away :D

Ok well getting into clockwork mode is a start :) trying out a backup is next :P
Im not great with android but have picked up a bit off people who are :) so hopefully I can be of some use. Cyanogen might be neat to get running but its not really needed on a tablet as alot of stuff is phone related and most people whould not need it. I think if we start off by getting some custom stuff going on top of 2.1 then try and get 2.2 going it would be great!

Can someone get me copies of the following files:
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/build.prop

Peeps
we have a number of newbies here with us, once we are at the point of rooting clockwork mod installed and able to create a Nandroid backup of the device in its orginal state, can we create a full step by step instructions with pictures, so we don't leave people behind.
