I see what you mean, mine is a rom manager by clockwork mod, havnt worked out how to install the clockwork mod recovery thingy

How do install clockwork mod to allow me to backup the tablet first, would love to try the update but a little cautious about "bricking" my scroll

Whats the worste that could happen with this update file?

Worst that can happen? Probably a brick?
Basically you need to install clockworkmod as the recovery image.

If you want to do that I can walk you though it.

I unzipped recovery.NanoPad.img.zip, and used :

Code: Select all
./fastboot-linux flash recovery recovery.NanoPad.img

to push it to my Scroll. I had rooted the Scroll by this point, which is firmware version 0.94

Is basically what you need to do. What operating system are you on? Windows?

Download this http://dl.google.com/android/android-sd ... indows.zip

Extract the zip to somewhere (I have it in my home folder)
Run SDK Manager.exe and make sure you run it as administrator (right click menu)
once you have the SDK Manager open on the first screen you can uncheck everything (unless you plan to develop for android?) and click on through to the main Manager program.
Select Available packages on the left and side
Click on Third Party Add Ons - Google Inc - check google USB Driver Package

The drivers will be downloaded to the folder android-sdk-windows\usb_driver

Next plug your tablet into the computer but do not mount it. you dont want to be able to access the sd card from your pc.

Open Control panel > Device manager.
Right click on the unknown item > update driver software > browse my computer > Search in the android-sdk-windows\usb_driver folder and select either the x86 r x64 drivers (depending on if you have windwos 7 64bit or 32bit)

Next go to the tools folder inside android-sdk-windows
hold down the shift key and right click in the folder > "open command window here"
type in "adb devices". You should see the tablet listed.
then try "adb shell". you should see # in the next line this is you connected to the terminal on the tablet.
