The Stock Recovery can flash update.zip files just as well as clockwork can so you dont actually need clockwork installed to flsah things. Only downside is the lack of Nanadroid so you would not be able to backup first

I'm almost tempted......but as it really belongs to SWMBO I dont want to loose brownie points!
Presumably, if we flash it with a custom update.zip any updates from SO themselves may not work in future?

I just dont understand why storage options diddnt delete or disable all the phone stuff in the software,maybe its a licensing thing.

no sure tbh,

I see you have the same fm versions as me - (i don't think i will use any updates from S.O. in a hurry)

S.O will probably give update in the Update.zip format... chances are any updates from them in the future would actually work over the top as all they would do in stick the new files in place - can't garentee anything of course...

I just tried disassembling mine too (out of boredom on my tea break)...

Removed the memory card, removed the two screws on the edge and ran a case-split tool round it... no joy, its tighter than a duck's a£$% and I dont want to crack the casing.

as long as their updates don't change the firmware, as it looks like the one we have is the most stable.

Good point, the updates they release will perhaps change the firmware, have they ever told anyone why there are three versions (so far!)?

the firmware = android btw so there is no confusion. its just an internal numbering system used by the company same way my update.zip is v1. if i wanted to I could change the devices firmware numbe to 65543 in that update.
