I'm looking to get rid of the horrid native picture viewer and replace it.

the free Justpictures image viewer looks the part.

Yes, it works much better than the default Picture Viewer, it has a great option of hiding whole folders of pictures and can integrate with picasa, flickr and others. And, you can change the wallpaper, woohoo! However, the aspect ratio can still be slightly wrong, like the default Picture Viewer, but then my phone has trouble too, must be an Android thing
