I've rooted my scroll and checked it with the terminal but when I try to rename phone.apk to phone.old with Astro or ES explorer I get "insufficient Privileges". Have I missed something ?

Astro does not use root permissions... Use super manager or root explorer

Hi hope someone can help

I received my scroll today...exdisplay from ebuyer. Started it up and skip the google account etc and went straight to the home page. I didnt check for firmware update as per manual (fw1.00). Attempted rooting which I think I have done but I do not see the android market icon. I've read I need to download root manager or similar to delete the phone apks to have full access to the market.

I dont know where to start after the rooting instruction. I also havent installed clockworkmod yet. is this a neccessary procedure?

Are the instructions in your manual to install the marketplace? I had to run an update to be able to see the market in the first place.

There was when I first tapped app installer a new window opens showing "/sdcard"...it said in the manual at this point you can change to "/anand", which I did but when i pressed ok. I would get an error message saying "error no apk packages found". I didnt get home or update to latest firmware option.

shall i do a factory reset?.... do i have to unroot first before i do?

now when i select app install, it shows me z4root and emulator....

Storage Options do not support the market. If the market installer was not in /nand you may be out of luck. In which case you need to nab a copy of someone here and see if that works for you
