Enabling password protection on Android 2.3 Scroll

It was annoying me that I couldn't find out how to enable the lock-screen password protection that I know is built-in to Android 2.3. All of the references simply say select the Location & Security item from Settings to set up passwords (or a PIN or a security pattern), but my Scroll 7" Capacitative didn't have this item in the settings menu. Here's how I get to it.

  • From the Home screen, press the Menu hard button and select Add
  • Select "Shortcuts"
  • Select "Settings"
  • Select "Location & security settings"
  • You now have a shortcut to the missing menu item on your home screen - select this
  • Select "Change screen lock"
  • Select your preferred means of securing your Scroll
Now every time you unlock your screen with the slider you will be asked to enter your password/pin/pattern.

Simples - just a pain to access the menu item for some reason
