Got mine for like £124 delivered :P

Maplin pisses me off at time. if you have had something more than two weeks they insist on sending it off to a 'service centre' which can take a couple weeks to get back to you. I bought a PSU there and the internal lighted fan failed in about 15 days and they wanted to send it off. I caused a stink as the best they could suggest was for me to purchase another unit and wait for the service center to get back to me. So asks I, how about if they somehow 'fix' it? You'll not refund me for it OR the new one you'd have my buy to replace it, especially if I have to have the replacement for more than 2 weeks!

They gave me a refund, which I put to a different product, and asked me to please go away.

But I do love Maplin's. I call it the Man Store. :P

I use to spend joyful hours staring at resistors in radio shack... maplins is now a poor copy of it as no more vast wall racks of resistors/capacitors... they're ll in little drawers out the back :/

I have a love/hate relationship with Maplins. Plus points are they are the only game in town for electronics, and they have many shops, all carrying most of their range.

Downside is the unimaginative nature of a lot of the stock. There are so many fantastic gadgets coming out of Korea and China, Maplin really ought to make more of this rather than selling last years underspecced devices. Not to mention kiddies toys, which, after all, you can buy elsewhere. You also have to be really careful over their pricing policy. One week, in certain stores, product X is full price. Next week, again in certain stores only, it's at a big discount. Week after, it's up to higher than the original price. It's very much a case of being in the right branch on the right day to get a "good" price.

Rant over. As I said, they're the only game in (most) town(s), so kudos to them on that.

Just went to the local Maplins here in London City but they're sold out of them - just wanted to have a play before I bought it from Tesco :)

I have quite a soft spot for Maplin though as their first ever shop was in Westclfif on Sea, about half a mile from my house when I was a kid!

Yes Maplins is getting through their stock at a rate of knots!

I saw the £129 price on Thursday and was disappointed that they were out of stock.
On my way into work on Friday I took a look at a cheaper model they had as a 2nd grade. It was very basic - only Androd 1.5 and 128M of memory. Then the assistant said they had stocks of the Scroll :) I wonder how long they lasted?
