Hi Charlie,
You do need to consider all the potential risks when organising your backups ... so don't upset you sister!

Yes that is true - There is no real fail safe way to backup, only to try to minimise data loss. Even tho' I try to organise my data I still end up losing data - Well not gone just I can not find where I saved the data, oops

I know the feeling. I have a stack of old HDDs with cryptic labels, and a box of USB sticks which are even harder to label properly. And it's getting worse. Have you tried labelling microSD cards?

Just thinking about your ever deepening above description makes me both cringe and laugh at the same time
Perhaps you need one of these too Western Digital 4TB Black SATA 6GB/s 7200RPM 64MB 3.5" Hard Drive

Mind you - it would a bit like all your eggs in one basket. :(
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Nah, I'll wait for the price to come down. :D You can already get 3TB drives for under £100.

When will it all stop, that's what I want to know. You also need to keep an eye on flash as that is becoming more economical for bulk storage. I have stopped using writeable CDs and DVDs effectively. I saw yesterday that Ebuyer are offering 32GB USB sticks for a tenner - http://www.ebuyer.com/eblast

You need to buy four of them - one to go in your PC and three to rotate as backups. That's what I decided to do when I saw 1TB drives at below £50 three years ago. I don't need to go for a bigger drive just yet. Instead what I did was to add in a SSD to speed things up a little.
