Dave (FoneFixer), you were one of the best, I truly appreciated your input and help with this forum. You helped so many members, myself included. I'm shocked and upset to hear about your passing, I wish things were different, I'm still trying to process the news, I just can't believe it. The last thing you said to me was in a private message on Friday when you apologised to me for missing me in your chat room and asking to meet in there later. You didn't need to apologise for anything, unfortunately we never did get to have that chat. Your friends and family are in my thoughts. I will truly miss you, as I know we all will.

I am deeply shocked and stunned by this news and can't take it in.

My thoughts are for Dave's family at this sad time.

I have only been a member for the forum for a just over a couple of months and, in that time, I have developed great respect for Dave's depth of knowledge, willingness to help, straight talking and pragmatic approach. He has provided me with help, both here and on his own Mobile Phone Forum website. I had the chance to talk to Dave more casually through his site's new Chatzone facility on Friday and I'm so glad that I had the chance to do so.

I'm sure my thoughts echo those of so many people on the this Forum.

Rest in Peace, Dave, we'll miss you!

I am still deeply saddened by the news, Dave had a vast wealth of knowledge and helped a lot of people out on this forum and on his own forum.

Even though I never met him, it felt like I knew him well from are forum, email and iRC chats over the last year. It's sad that he is no longer with us, but some of his knowledge that he taught me, will live on through me.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

I only knew Dave a few weeks but in that time he made a great impression on me.
His warmth and good humour and his obvious care for people are a rare thing that you don't meet very often these days.

Dave, I salute you. God bless your family who now have to deal with your passing and all that that brings.
I wish I could have known you longer although our acquaintance was short it was 5 star.

I shall miss you.

I sent an email to Amy (Dave's HRH) to express condolences, She replied with a lovely email which, with her permission, I share with you:
At some point in the future, I intend to join the Scroll forum and to post a
message of thanks to all members, but feel unable to do so at the moment.
His children and I are still in shock over what has happened.

His burial will be here in Hurghada on Tuesday afternoon, as he considered
Egypt to be his home since moving here. Would you please do me the honour of
passing on my sincere thanks to forum members for all the kind messages we
have received. Emails are still arriving as I write, so far in excess of 700
since 6am this morning. He was a very popular man who had many friends both
online and in person, a truly fantastic partner, very loving Father and a
wonderful boss.

It would have been his wish that his online community friends should be
mentioned at his funeral as he considered all of you to be just as much his
friends as in "real life". I will ensure his this is carried out and that a
wreath of remembrance will be placed on his coffin from all the online
communities he was a member of.

For my part, I have lost a loving partner, and most of all a true loyal
friend. He never "minced his words" and people always know where they stood
with him, myself included.

Once again, thank you.

Amy (known to Dave as HRH)

Beautiful words and I admire Amy's fortitude in being able to express herself so eloquently at such a sad time.

Regards

@Charlie - It's my sad pleasure to share Amy's thoughts with everyone.

Quite how she managed to write something so beautiful, at such a time, is a measure of the woman and her man!
