I had a minute silence at 1pm for Dave, and @Stu thanks for doing that. - I liked the message and video (very thoughtful), brought tears to my eyes again.

I watched the video too. Very sad and thought provoking. It made me think about Dave, and my parents funny enough, who passed away years ago.
Thanks for shutting down the forum, and using that video.

Hello everyone,

Just thought I would let you know that Dave's funeral went very well. I believe 650 people attended, certainly more that we expected.

There were some very moving tributes to him from his children, colleagues and friends on the day. I would also like to thank Stu for the tribute on the forum, unfortunately I diddnt see it personally but his children and I are very touched by the way you chose to honour him.

I would also like to thank all of you once again for the very kind messages in memory of my partner, soul mate , lover and friend. He meant so much to so many people. He always used to say "when youre times up, thats it" in a very straight forward tone of voice. I only wish his time had not been up for another 30 years.

Finally, thank you to forum member pwilko123 for your very kind donation. If anyone else wishes to do so please remember Dave's Paypal account will be closed on the 20th March.

Thank you

Amy

Hi Amy, thanks for your message and kind words.
Between 1-3pm yesterday the forum was shutdown and looked like this: http://www.scrolltabletforum.co.uk/site/tribute.html
Just in case anyone missed it and wanted to see it.
I'll keep it available for a few days.

Hi Stu,

I just wanted to say thanks for helping us share our thoughts about Dave (FoneFixer) the video was a great moment for reflection and helps put life's priorities in perspective.
I also wanted to say that I am a wiley old bird who has seen a great deal of what life brings, both good and bad, but of all the many forums I have visited (and moved on from) this is the first I have encountered that seems like a family.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Dear Stu,

Thanks for shutting down the Forum yesterday.

The video was a nice touch and, in me, those few minutes of runtime encouraged a moment of reflection and contemplation, which was quite enriching. In all the frantic rush of day to day living, we sometimes neglect to count our blessings and give thanks for family, friends and those, without whom, our lives would be so much poorer.

Thank you again

I have just realised that I have known Dave for 14 months and one day. The news of his passing has effected me greatly, I can only begin to think what it must be like at this time for others that have known him for far longer.

I count my blessings that I had the chance to know such a remarkable man, who inspired me, taught me many things, and who I had a laugh and joke with on a daily basis. (TBH - the list is endless)

Dave had a great positive influence on my life, of which I am honoured that I could experience. I do feel that he would not want me or others to be sad for too long and to get back to getting on with things. As I felt that Dave was never a one to dilly dally.

In one of Amy's posts today she quoted something Dave said, which was "He always used to say "when your times up, that's it" in a very straight forward tone of voice". Unfortunately that is very true for all of us. However, I have a saying of my own, which I would like to share...

...The key to immortality, is living a life worth remembering.

Dave certainly will not be forgotten by me and he will continue to inspire and teach me in everything I do.

Charlie.

I just logged in to have a look at what was happening over here and found this thread...

I'm speechless, for the year I spent here with Dave that feels so long ago I won't forget, he was a great guy all round and as little as I am here these days, will be very much missed.

RIP Dave, thoughts with you and your family. God Bless.
