Get your Nexus 7 here: http://hexus.net/mobile/news/android/41 ... egins-159/

At £159.00 it looks like Storage options will have to go some to beat this quad-core tablet.

I caved and got myself one of these.

I have to say it absolutely blows the Scroll Extreme out of the water.

Ok its smaller at 7", but I find this better for reading books (not quite as good for web browsing).

However the speed of the thing is amazing and - the difference is just night and day when browsing web sites etc compared the Scroll. Its a pleasure to use instead of frustrating.

My Extreme is being gifted to my daughter and I will be using this from now on! Any questions - fire away.

BTW, I have rooted it, installed CWM recovery and a custom ROM already! Have iplayer and Flash working like a charm.

This sounds just great. I know that many of us want to know just what exactly you can do with the USB other than charging the tablet.
As the Nexus 7 doesn't support external SD then an external usb Stick or drive would be the next best thing.
Can the Nexus 7 host these and if so are there any special requirements?
Some are assuming that Google have deliberately not provided for an external SD card in order for Nexus 7 owners to depend on Google's streamed services?
I personally would be most grateful if you don't mind running tests on 1. ITV Player and 2 TVcatchup using their android app
( http://tvcatchup.com/android.html ) . Hope I'm not asking too much - cheers. :D

Sure, will test those later.

Regarding USB - I Haven't tried it as I don't have an OTG lead, but I have read on the Modaco forums (I think it was there) that its possible to use USB storage once rooted. I am using the Modaco custom ROM so hopefully its already setup for storage access.

Will try and find an OTG lead and report back on it.

TV Catchup is working great!

Edit - ITV Player is working just grand too! Just wish my net connection was better at work.

Both of these run really smoothly - very impressed. Downloaded ITV player APK and sideloaded - didnt even look on Play store.

Thanks Johnny, I really appreciate your efforts - glad you like the downloads too :D
I will await your pleasure about what you can and can't do with the usb later.

Cheers.

Have ordered an OTG cable from Amazon. May take a while to arrive on free delivery though.

Been reading more about it and think you need to use an app called stick mount to get it to work.

OTG cable arrived today.

Using stick mount app was able to mount an 8gb lexar stick with no problems. The app detects the stick has been plugged in an automatically mounts it for you.

EDIT my usb powered 2.5" Samsung 400gb drive seems to work fine too.
