It seems to me that Storage Options are desperately trying to keep their android tablet gravy-train going just a little longer with the announcement of the Scroll Explore.

At £119.99 - this Christmas pitch makes the A13 cut down device the same original cost of the Scroll Excel.
The Allwinner A13 is basically the same chip as the Allwinner A10 but has the HDMI and SATA disabled, so you can't connect this one to your HD TV although it still boasts full HD performance you would be hard pressed to appreciate it on a 7" screen with a maximum resolution of 800 x 480.

With the Scroll Excel II selling for just £89.99 having a better specification and including Bluetooth it makes one wonder just who would be buying the Scroll explore for an extra £30.00 - I suspect it will only be the uninformed, as clearly you can get much better value even with the Excel II from Storage Options themselves let alone elsewhere.

"Box" on Ebay are still selling the 7" "Tablo" with Allwinner A10 - 8G storage and the usual first generation scroll connectivity for less than £69.99 (that's a whopping £50.00 less than the Exlpore and better specs) and even the 16G Google Nexus is only £39.01 more expensive than the Scroll Explore.

If you want to buy a Scroll and still save money then what about the Scroll Essential II for only £69.99 as advertised by Storage Options. Twice the memory spec and also a whopping £50.00 less than the Scroll Explore.

Having said all that, should you still decide to buy an Explore, I would love to hear your feedback.

Nice review there, i like the look of the Essential 2 shame about the RAM being only 512mb.

What i would like to see is a 9" device from them with an IPS screen, 1GB of ram and a speedy processor, that will get the punters going. An ipad clone if you will. Take note Storage Options.

Hi guys,

I have the Essentials 2.
I've been doing a bit of digging, looking at the nand partitions, so if you want I can upload bootloader and boot.img.

Will I continue this here or should I start a new thread?

Best,
moussevic

Wow that sounds great - it would be nice to have an image available.
Perhaps a good place would be to start such a thread here: viewforum.php?f=10

You won't be able to upload directly to the forum but you can place a link to a file server such as Dropbox.
If you don't have a free Dropbox account you can get one here: http://db.tt/4LG5LNIK
