Wow, what a fantastic ass you are. Or Champion for the common man? How do you see yourself here?

Are you standing vigilantly for those who stumble into the likes of this forum, all unaware, to brick their device with tweaks which can do no such thing, no matter how..'common' the user is? Or are you just being an arse and casting wild and unjustifiable accusations of impropriety and malfeasance on someone volunteering time and knowledge to those looking exploring for information?

How very embarrassing it would be to find you represent 'other' interests. (touch Mike)

Everything I buy, I hack. In fact, most things I buy with the knowledge that it is, in fact, hackable and that people are working on the same. Every phone, every X-Box, every DVD, PC, DS, PSP. Hell, I even 'hacked' my food processor!

And there isn't a damn thing wrong with it. It's not 'illegal' and it can't void a warranty. That boat sailed and those guys lost. I can install whatever OS I can manage to on my Scroll and doing so will in no way void my warranty. They will not be required to support me any more with OS related queries, but then I've never much wanted their 'support' in the first place, thus why I will install Android 2.2.

Funny how every one of the threads you complained about cautioned users, yet you assume that isn't enough. That people need protected from themselves. How very pompous of you, but I'll address it in the time honored and true manner: you can't fight the power of stupid. No matter how many warnings, how many explanations, how many EMBOLDENED DIRECTIONS; stupid finds a way.

This community will not be playing to the lowest 'common' denominator.

Welcome to the forum.

+1 for supporting Warpedflash. He is a contributor to this forum from before he even got his Scroll. All of us contribute something, some much more than others - he is firmly in that category.

To me, Clockworkmod recovery is the most valuable asset to have. With it installed, you can't brick your device, leaving it open to anyone to experiment safe in the knowledge you can revert back again.

Let's get back to working together. I really value this forum as a friendly place where novices aren't patronised by "gurus", we're all learning together. The forum's been an unexpected bonus which came with my Scroll purchase, I hope it stays that way.

I dont really want this thread turning into a bashing war... thanks fo rsupporting me peoples but it shoul really actually be about the 1.02 update lol...

So yea I updated the how-to files saying not to do them if you want to flash 1.02. Im not going to take them down because I am of the opinion most people are not so retarded as to not ask for help if it goes wrong.

The root should still work on 1.02 and should the new build.prop files I will however revert the device ID changes if its requested so the new update will flash over the top - downside the thing will be name badly in tapatalk again.

You could, of course, get tapatalk pro and not have the signatures... I turned mine off

If anyone would like assistance in finding it, drop me a pm 8-)

Have we got a firm fixed/unfixed list here that people can refer to, especially for those who didn't have market working previously etc.

e.g.

Previous firmware/baseband : 1.01
Was android market working before?: no
Hardware (screen, camera, GPU etc) : working
Android market / carousel view / paid apps : working / not working / working
Youtube app : working
Media player : working

etc etc.

This might give us a clearer picture of the pros and cons of this firmware.
David Kirkland

firmware version : v0.94
Kernel version : 2.6.29
Build number 2.1

Rooted | Clockworkmod'd | build.prop'd | PMT Slimmed | Nano installed

I think most jumping on the bashing bandwagon here do not understand what my criticism was, it was in no way anti modding as I have supported the open source community for many years and have been an active contributor in the past, but failing eyesight now prevents me enjoying it so much, and like most on here have in some way opened and modded most of the tech I own. I wasnt cricising developers and the tools they use as that would be like bashing myself, so forgive me but I think those posts suggesting I am knocking this, and imparticular the clockworkmod tool or development in general are just displaying the ignorance of the posters.

What I did criticise was not development, but an attitude displayed by warped flash on this occasion in that when it was established that his edited build prop would prevent the official update from working. There was no help offered to users such as, 'yea my edited build.prop will prevent the official update, but no probs, no one could forsee the pre-requisites of these updates so I am posting a fix that will undo my edits for those that wish to install the new firmware', instead it was incorrectly implied that the new firmware was at fault. Warpedflash will tell you that assert true statements in the update scripts failed because of the edited build.prop. It was never in question (by me) that the official update would not work with clockworkmod installed or on a rooted scroll, as I had examined the update scripts.

My post criticising this has had the desired effect, and indeed I did know that I was in for a load of flak when posting it. But it has resulted in a simple update that reverts the scroll back allowing the official update for those users that wanted to try it, which I beleive was being overlooked in favour of developing the much appreciated custom rom. Users asking for help not in the modding section, but in the offical firmware update thread have now got a fix instead of being brushed aside.

If people want help with the official firmware update (on Scrolls that are still in stock condition) this forum is not the right place (They need to go to Storage Options for help) - If the said owners of Scrolls only wanted to use Official Updates, why are they doing custom updates in the first place!

Help is offered to forum users, that have done custom updates to enable them to use the official firmware update, where possible. Also help has been offered to 'Stock' users, to use the official update too, where possible, but the latter really is between the Scroll owner and manufacture.

I don't say a lot, but I would like to thank all those for there very hard work putting together some very useful mods for the Scroll. I am no techy, but have found them neither difficult to use nor dangerous. I have found the supportive tone of discussion and advice on this site excellent. Please don't let us lose that as our general approach here.

If there is any room for a negative comment surely it must be directed towards Storage Options and their cop-out in their removal of support fot the Android Market.
