Price, ebooks, processor, OS (2.1 was my min. requirement, 2.2 will be better) and a learning tool for programming Android apps.

Learning about Android.

A chance to play with cool hardware without £600 price tag.

It is very heartening to find this forum. In great Open Source tradition the manufacturer has produced hardware and at least an example software set and let the users then do with it what suits them best.

Now I have voted I see its the price that swayed most people. The fact that Android is Linux based and itself Open Source means that the hundred quid or so a Scroll costs is all going to provide you with max hardware.

Battery life could be better I suppose and the latest swanky and expensive pads have 1GB main memory - but all this pushes the price up hugely.

A piece of tech that does not give you a heart attack if it slips out of your fingers and smashes means you are more likely to take it with you and use it than some £1000 laptop!

Netbooks were meant to be this too - I still own one of the original Asus EEE-PCs. A cheap laptop that you can buy with Linux instead of Windows - shock horror!

I think there could be some interesting synergies between the two to be explored.

I'm able to come on a wonderful forum meet genuine nice people, learn a little. Then at bedtime lie in bed with my scroll as an ebook chomping away on malteasers with the free hand that usually holds a a big heavy hardback. It keeps the misses happy because the lights off.
Then during the day use it to check my emails bid for items on ebay, all while working and looking very busy. Show my colleges my lovely holiday snaps and listen to a bit of music on the way home. What more can one ask for and all for a pricey sum of £137, absolute bargain in my eyes.
