Yes this works fine for me on the scroll resistive
on theExcell i put Elixir widget to toggle the phone off but all it seems to do is change the icon in the banner to a plane phone still runs
i have not looked into it but they say that Juice defender is the best for this

Titanium pro, could freeze them fine. I have just not around to this tweak yet, sorry. Too many tweaks to look at :)

Cheers mate, I will use titanium but I still need info on what files to freeze, where to find them and in what order.

I am worried about just jumping in as I already had a problem with my first excel and it has made me feel that I will break it knowing my luck.

You must be careful - on my 1st gen Scroll I got into a force close loops and a bootloop whilst figuring out the way to remove the phone apps - The way I managed to get the tablet back working was via ADB - So if you don't have that or another fall back to fix this kind of thing, you end up with a device you can not use.

any update on this yet guys?

now i have a working clockwork on there and have created a backup i would have thought that if anything went wrong i could just restore that backup couldnt i?

if that is the case all i need now is a bit of guidance as to what to freeze or rename, what order and any other advice and i will give it a go.

You should be fine - if you have created a backup with CWM5 - and keep it safe (I always have one on external SD-card & 1 on PC)

Try in this order (freeze)- You may get lots of 'force closed' - it's ok, just turn off and back on again, and carry on.

phone.apk

(then) mms.apk

(then) telephoney.apk or it might be called telephoneyprovider.apk (I forget)

(finally) Reboot

Good luck

nice one
now you have a good backup it would be an idea to rename it (2.3- best)or something that ID's it easily. and put a copy on your pc you cant have any spaces in the name so a . or - work for splitting words
keep a copy on your sdcard and make shure its on the /extern_sd
just navigate to that folder /mnt/extern_sd/clockworkmod/backups it should be in there
as for getting rid of telephony i dont know as i havent really looked into it
sure smeone will be along sooon to advise

Edit: your too fast Charlie LOL

Afaik there isnt an mms.apk on the excel.

It should be just phone.apk reboot then telephonyprovider.apk

I thought that you should not rename the CWM backups as this corrupts the Checksum ?? or was that just with the CWM for the 1st gen Scroll?

Is there not? - I thought, I thought I saw a pussy cat mms.apk, anyway not an issue, 1 less app to deal with :)
