If anyone wants jellybean on excell should use the lite version viewtopic.php?f=57&t=3132 plus compatibility.zip from first post.Using CWM Perform a factory reset. Flash latest lite build. Flash compatibility zip.Flash Google apps lite. Then wipe cache - wipe dalvik cache - and wipe battery stats.Reboot and you are ready to go.Its working perfect for me.Very smooth and stable the only problem is with default launcher wich is trebuchet(it just crash sometimes) and if you dont like it just instal Nova launcher from google store(apex its working very strange on jelly bean for me). After installing you still will have around 15mb on system partition not 4kb like before :). I think you should be hapy with that repacked lite build."The Force is strong with this one." :)

Gonna have to try try this.
So I take it, if we used the build.prop from Suggsy's excellent ICS (I9100) the Excel will boot loop?
Looks like my Excel will get JB before an official release for my Galaxy S3 :-)
Oh one more thing.
This is compatible with the original Excel?

Update...
Bloody tablet.
I downloaded the three files, and put them on my internal SD Card.
I then suddenly noticed that my internal card wasn't mounted anymore.
I hit the Mount SD Card option, and nothing happened.
Rebooted, tested again. Still no internal SD Card.
Went into CWM/Factory wipe..... Still no internal SD Card.
CWM Format/Partition card. This turned out to be stupid, as I managed to wipe and partition my external SD :(
After trying everything, I eventually remembered how to get the Excel to Flash with LiveSuit (it's been a while).
Flash ICS, and my Internal SD was working again.
Will get the three files again. And have a play with JB.
I wouldn't have minded so much, but the internal SD went walkabout before I'd done anything related to flashing.
I had only downloaded the three files with Dolphin, and BAM! no SD Card.

OMG Jelly Bean is wonderful on the Excel, thank you for finding this.
Super buttery smooth.
Although the camera is baffled :-)
Just an update for other people with big cajones flashing this firmware. If you use Adaway, you may get an error about Insufficient space when applying the host file.
If you do, go into Settings of Adaway, and change the target to /data/data.
Go back and try again. This time it should work, but will complain about a missing Symlink. Just let it create one.
No more ads again :-)

Be interested to see how this goes with you over time as several of us who have tried JB without fixing the system partition size - first as recommended by CT - have run into trouble with things getting very sluggish. Clearly the Excel can run JB but we are hoping that Suggsy89 will come to our aid with a truly Excel customised/optimised version that keeps running without having sporadic nervous breakdowns.

Hey guys,

I installed Jellybean and despite only encountering the problem of the keyboard not showing up during the installation; all in all it went very smoothly.
Restored all of my apps, changed to the nova launcher and have now been using it for about two days. I must admit that it's definitely a lot better than the first Jellybean. However, I still think it's very slow when minimize/ exiting applications, bringing up the keyboard and still can't show emoticons in tapatalk (not a big deal).
Anyways I'm going to keep playing with it for a while maybe change the launcher and see if it improves. If not then it's back to the trusty iview 407 which seems to be working perfectly with my excel.

I'm not using the lite version. And so far the launcher hasn't crashed once.
I have also dived in with a system file uninstaller, removing things that don't work such as tts and Bluetooth etc. And I have managed to get 9mb on the system partition.
Really don't know about this. Stick with this and suck up the sucky battery life or go back to Suggsy's great ICS.
Now if he could release an optimised JB, then different story all together :-)
