Based on work for the Extreme, they are both the same, apart from the screen.

Thanks Suggsy a million, I will download but I probably won't update straight away.
If for some personal preference I should want to, presumably I can simply Flash your 4.0.3 rom back over the top with a livesuite format wipe or will this need new dedicated usb drivers to do that?

Just do a backup in CWM before you flash this, then if you dont like it, just restore the backup ;)

Any chance of a build of this for the Essential? I know you previously said maybe, then no but I'm not really sure. I think it's just the screen driver if I remember correctly?

Okay, that's cool, we need to be running suggsy89's 4.0.3 for Excel first, but what does this mean?
You need to use ICS bootloader for Excel

Great work, suggsy89, you're on fire with all this rom stuff.

Regards

Astro

The above means that we cannot just upgrade from 2.3 Gingerbread to this... We need an ICS base first...
I believe as long as the base firmware (ie.. Android 4.0.3 in your case) has been built for Allwinner A10 proccessor with Mali-400 Graphics, this is compatible.

I only mentioned that as i forget things easily, and i now have 3 builds on the go..

I wish i could show you my desktop on the PC... Its a mess.. I have nothing organised

Hy Guys, upgraded from 4.0.3 using Clockwork Mod to Suggsy's 4.0.4 ICS for the Excel today and thought I would share some of my findings. I now appreciate those warnings about the first boot taking a long time so don't try doing anything too soon. The first boot was quite long one but not enough to think you've got a boot loop or anything.

After the upgrade for some reason I lost ESfile Explorer - had to download and install to get back. (No real hassle)
Well rewarded with the cloned ID as a Samsung GT-19100
Much improved Google Play seeing apps like asphalt 6 which I couldn't see before.

Network:
Got a slowish ping but I am in the middle of a very busy network traffic area and frequently have to dance my channels about to get away from the interference.Speedtest.net: Download speed check as expected 12160 Kbps but somehow I appear to have an improved upload speed. Usually (and I test regularly) I can only get an upload speed of 900 Kbps max but for the first time ever I got 1029 Kbps.

BBC iplayer failed to work.
Uninstalled the app and downloaded again from Playstore re-installed then iplayer worked ok.
Overall operation is smoother than with 4.0.3 but apparently at the expense of a miniscule lip-sync issue which is just noticeable.

Streaming live TV from BBC is OK
Streaming live from ITV online is varied. All the adverts are fine but some of the content won't playback other than in visual and audial sutters. Sort of proves that ITV don't care too much about their content so long as you watch their adverts. lol.

TV catch up through stock browser works fine too.
I downloade the app from their website http://tvcatchup.com/android.html andthat also works brilliantly.
(this app is still in Beta so is not bug free although performance is so far clean and fast)

1click direction finder with TTS seems not to work any more, just sits showing a message "refreshing driving instructions"

Tilt control working correctly in allplanes

Nice piece of work Suggsy I am a very happy bunny. :D
