How To "Flash Android 4.0.3 ICS" (Excel Only)

Ok, I did it. Many thanks everybody, especially Suggs89, Mitre, rayhertford and ptbw.

As per my previous post, I had a slightly different experience with LiveSuite. It went like this, with my notes in green:

The device must be off and un-plugged

Load LiveSuit, click the yellow box, select your extracted image

I am now going to suggest to use the Home key,
I flash a lot of images, and my Vol+ is kind of dodgy now.

Hold down Home Volume up button, plug in usb cable, press Power button 6-10 times (while still holding the volume up button)
It was at this point that I installed the LiveSuit driver - Windows Vista didn't have a driver, so, when prompted by Vista, I navigated to the LiveSuit folder and then the USB Driver folder and clicked ok. It installed the driver.
LiveSuit will eventualy detect your device, click "Format Upgrade" option.
LiveSuit will then flash the device, this could take up to 3 minutes
You will then see a box with a warning triangle (it's in a "click ok" type dialogue box), unplug the device
The device should boot up, give it a few minutes to load...
If it displays a box on load, click it, it will reboot and clear the cache
Reboot!

Also, I found a couple of videos on youtube that might be helpful, in a general kind of way, for noobs. They're for the Cyclone Astro but show the general gist of it (other than the clockwordmod thing, which is a breeze with Suggs89's .bat file).

As someone who desperately wants to find the most solid information within this thread in order to take the plunge and update My Excel 97F1-D1-H1-H01-1291-20111128 to ICS, I am getting confused as members appear to be successfully flashing at least two different ICS ROMs.

There is the Tablo Rom 97F2-D1-H1-H01-1950.20120424

There is the eyeview Rom 4.0.3-97F1-D1-H2-H01-N413.20120314 & the eyeview script which needs to be run after flashing.

I believe suggsy89 is using the eyeview ROM now in his how-to but that there may be issues regarding the scope of the eyeview script which Charlie indicates may be further (market/play store) improved by more tweaking.
I appreciate that things constantly evolve when modding but has anyone got any significant views on which upgrade is the better in both ease of flashing and eventual user operation - or should I continue wait a bit longer until things are a little clearer?

If you want an unbranded supported rom, use this one, if you want to use a branded unsupported rom use the
Tablo one..

My updates will be based on this build only.

My update includes all the fixes that the "Script" uses, and I can make any changes you want, just ask me.

Hey, i can even make livesuit images myself, so you may see "Another perfect ICS" rom soon

@Trashcooky i flashed the so called pefect rom last night had a play around then came back to the rom on this page made by Suggsy89 why because its better
and because its supported by a Guru
and because i want to support the work that Suggsy and others are doing on this forum if they need stuff testing and everyones on the Tablo or momo then where will we end up
This rom really is cracking and im sure theres more to come
I would just like to take this opportunity to give Kudos the what suggsy89 has managed to do in such a short time and thats with all the help he gives as well thanks mate no clapping smilees im afraid

@Mitre I certainly would not wish to detract from the amazing work that suggsy89 is doing and has done in the past and I trust him implicitly. I was just finding it a little difficult to pick the cream from what has become a very long and complicated thread.

@suggsy89 I wish I was as gifted as you obviously are but when you get to my age the brain cells are unfortunately diminishing. I still haven't found the balls to go for ICS yet and will probably need to wait for your beginners update.zip

With the greatest of respect to everyone who works so hard to get all these answers, some of us need our hands held a bit more than others. Has anyone considered doing a jargon buster - i.e. "android modding for dummies" as even with the how-to's I still haven't fathomed how to get CWM to work yet? DOH
