I have a little bit of a problem, I've done everything listed by Mitre, I can get the CWM5 menu up when I boot the scroll, I've taken a backup but.....
On a normal boot I get the splash screen but nothing else, it just hangs, I've tried doing a factory reset from the CWM menu but to no avail, anyone have any suggestions?
I should add that the model is a 53715, I've found this:
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2085&p=15886&hilit=cyanogen#p15886
but that's for a different model number (thanks to suggsy btw)
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Cyanogen rom for this model?

I've now tried installing the 2 roms in the above thread, the SCROLL7-8K-cyanogen-signed.zip failed (I figured it would), the SCROLL7-recovery-signed.zip works but I still can't get past the damned start up/splash screen. I get the Android ADB Interface appearing in Device Manager (just before the device switches itself off). I can't run any of the commands in the adb/fastloader directory as I just get "waiting for device").

Right, now I've tried suggsy method of a push from adb (viewtopic.php?f=55&t=2259) I get "failed to copy 'recovery.img' to 'mnt/extern_sd/recovery.img': Read-only file system" when I try to push the recovery.img over.

Cheers.

I have some confusing results to share...

I sent my previous Excel back to Amazon because the display had a row of dead pixels and they sent a new one in its stead. Following this thread as before, I proceeded to install CW recovery, checked the version of busybox etc and all appeared to work fine, "12522 blocks written to nandf......"

Power off and perform vulcan nerve pinch (power and menu).... and black screen with a flicker of back light.

Tried several times still nothing... perform a normal power on and it boots back to stock GB so I still have a working tablet in that respect.

Tried installing Fun's lastest CW5.... 11675 blocks written to nandf.... black screen booting to recovery.

I now have put the stock recovery back on the tablet but am unable to boot to it, although I can see files if I mount /dev/block/nandf.

Like strangelad my model is a 53715 ( I did not note what the previous one was! ) if this has any relevance.

I guess my next step is to try LiveSuit, is there a flashable stock image some where?

Any help gratefully received.

Phil

Sorry replying to my own post....

As a last try I did a power+menu and connected a USB lead...

Code: Select all
root@ubuntu:~/Downloads/android/excel recovery# adb devices
List of devices attached
20080411   recovery

So does this mean the Excel is in recovery but nothing is displayed?

Any help gratefully received.
