Hi all i been off forum for a while with xmas and trying to flash clockworkmod onto the Excell without bricking it inbetween fighting the kids over whos turn it is on the excell
ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE WILLING TO LOSE YOUR WARRANTY
YOU CAN BRICK YOUR DEVICE I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS ITS YOUR DECISION

does not work with firmware97F2-D1-H1-H01-1748.20120307 if you have already flashed it on this firmware ptbw has a fix HERE

The easy way is to use Suggsy89's script http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4364278/Excel/C ... 0Excel.zip
Extract the download above, and run "CWM5 Recovery Stock.bat" BIG THANKS to suggsy89 for this

or you can do it the harder way
You must have some basic knowledge of adb
READ POSTS 1 AND 2 FULLY
THANKS TO FUN ON XDA this his recovery and the help he gave me geting it to the Excel
you will need adb SDK
make shure you have a working version of busybox on your excel
v1.18.3 and v1.17.1 are known to work
1.first donload recovery zip and unzip it(copy the 2 files to platform-tools folder in the SDK)
link http://www.4shared.com/zip/93FEDk4x/excel_recovery.html

2.make backup of existing recoverySee 2nd post
3.open android-sdk-windows folder on pc
4. right click platform-tools folder and open comand prompt in there
5. run the comands:

adb push install-recovery.sh /data/
adb shell chmod 755 /data/install-recovery.sh
adb push recovery.cpio /data/
adb shell /data/install-recovery.sh

exit cmnd prompt and eject excel

6. reboot into recovery hold menu button and power button untill your in recovery screen

thats it you have clockwork mod on your device
key map
volume up/dn = cycle through options
power button = select
back button =back

you can also do this with Terminal
put recovery file into /data
then install-recovery.sh

To find out if you have Busybox and which version open terminal emulator

Code: Select all
su
Code: Select all
busybox

it will show you the version you have and a list of functions

do not install busybox v1.19.3-stericson it will brick your excell
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the steps to dump recovery .img to your removable sd card

Code: Select all
cat /dev/block/nandf > mnt/extern_sd/recovery-dump.img

type this into terminal and you should get a dumped recovery image on the removable sd card BTW the sdcard on the excell is internal memory mnt/extern_sd is the TF card
I am pretty shure that nandf is the recovery .img but to be shure dump all the nand blocks a to h to be safe i would keep them named as nanda nandb nandc etc

if you know the code to identfy the blocks i would be grateful as we do need to identify these files

put them on your pc safe for safe keeping then delete them off the card

its now tested and fully working
think your getting mixed up 1.02 was on the old scroll looked at your pic on the other thread and its same versions as mine that thread is for scrolll resistive try to keep your discussions in the excell forum as it is a totally different tablet
you cant get clockwork mod from the rommanager app for the scroll excell as it is not officailly adopted by it

Ah thanks for the explaination. I'll stick to this forum ;)

I tried your guide, I'm having a little issue with the this command.
adb shell /data/install-recovery.sh

Cmd prompt is throwing back a syntax error from the script.

did you put both files in the platform-tools folder
funny but you got a different version of busybox mine is
BusyBox v1.18.3 (2011-07-08 15:05:12 CST) multi-call binary.
ive heard reports about probs with stericsons busybox dont know how true that is?or if thats the problem
also was the excel conected ok do not mount

Edit;
error messages are coming up when you flash this recovery it dont seem to be a problem. can you boot into cwmrecovery or not?

Yes both files were copied into the platform-tools folder and were copied over to the tablet successfully.
The file system itself wasn't mounted in windows.

I'll try the version of busybox you have in a while.

When trying to boot to recovery the screen flashes on for a split second then is black. But the speakers make a "pop" sound like a current is running through it then off again. If I hold the menu+power button in this happens every 10 seconds.

I can still boot into Android 2.3.4 normally no problem.

Edit**

I couldn't get busybox 1.18.3 It would only let me select 1.18.4 which as the closest version to it. Still no joy.

Heres the screenshot of the cmd window

Second Edit**

I tried busybox 1.17.1 It seemed to have worked! The cmd window

Booted into the CWM Recovery successfully! Look here

Just make a note in your guide this will only work with BusyBox v1.18.3 or lower I guess :)
