2.3.4 update

Could some one please help me...............

I have the fantastic scroll excel but im shore im not the only person who think this the only thing is im stuck on android version 2.3.4 and i would love to flash it up to as high as it can go iv rooted the tablet but im not to shore where to look for the best firmware for the tablet but i would also like to back up the firmware thats all ready on the tablet but i dont know how to do this i would like to save it on my PC as this is where i would be doing the flashing from as you probably guess im abit new to this and i really dont want to brick my tablet so any help would be grate
