Turned off and wouldnt turn on again

I put my tablet down, came back to use it about an hour later and it had turned itself off. I tried to turn it back on but the power buttons wouldnt work - it seemed dead. Using the Reset pinhole on the back has worked, however does anyone know what caused this? Is it hardware related or just a software quirk?

If when turning it off, you keep your finder on the button for several seconds, it completely powers off.
So when you goto power back on again, it takes a minute or so to come back as it's doing a full boot.
Perhaps it's that?

It prolly just locked up, i dont know the cause, ive heard something like this being refered to as "The Sleep of Death"
