Scroll fails to boot

Hi, first time poster hoping for help. Had a search around the site, but couldn't find anything with the symptoms I'm seeing.

I've had my Extreme about 6 weeks and all was good until this evening. I'm trying to do a reboot but it is hanging at the android logo - the animation is running, but even after 15 mins it doesn't move on to the home screen. I've tried the reset button, which starts another boot sequence, but hangs in the same way.

Any suggestions for recovery?

Are you able to enter recovery mode? I think it's VOL+ & Power.

Thanks Piers, found some instructions for something else last night that included that step. Did a factory reset and I'm up and running again. Had to reinstall everything, but nothing lost.
