My ex SD card wont read, can i still mod...?

Hi guys,

So I've had my extreme for quite a while now and would like to mod it with a new ROM, problem is a little while back my external SD card stopped working, it basically doesn't read anything when the card is plugged in.

Now i know CWM needs the external card for doing back ups but do i have to make back ups or is there a way i can do this without using my external SD?

Sorry if these are stupid questions that have already been answered but i couldn't find the info i was looking for on here

To answer the question posed in your title - Yes you can still mod.
However, I suspect you want more of an answer than that.

I would begin by asking you:
1. Are you sure the SD card is fully functional - have you tried it in another device or another SD card in your Extreme?
2. Have you tried a factory restore to see if this fixes SD card issues (back up first) ?

If the ext SD card functionality on your Extreme is definitely shot but the USB ports are OK then you can still install custom firmware using Livesuite. You may want to recap on how others with Extremes have fared installing JellyBean before you take the plunge of changing from a working ICS. viewtopic.php?f=57&t=3049
