Problem installing ADB on EXTREME

Thanks for that Piers, but no joy... the USB drivers in the Yarvik LiveSuit weren't recognised, and Windows insisted I had the best drivers (forgot to mention I'd downloaded the 64 bit version of PdaNet).

Anyway, after extensive faffing about, I tried a different USB port (yeah, I know, that should've been step 1 in my troubleshooting) and it all burst into life. I then tried a different USB cable, and that worked on the original port as well as the "new" one.

So, the moral seems to be, despite being able to copy files back and forth happily when the device is mounted in "file copy mode", it's very fussy about the USB connection when using adb.

Hi Bob, did you manage to resolve this?

I have the same problem (except I'm running Win 7 64 bit). I've used the USB drivers from PdaNet and the Extreme shows up in Device Manager. USB debugging is enabled.

Entering "adb devices" returns "20080411 offline".

Are there any other hoops to jump through to get the thing online?

No - I haven't got it working , like you it shows up in Device Manager but "adb devices" just gives a blank response.

I've parked the issue for now as bits of plastic are falling off the Extreme and I'm organising a RMA.

Er... that's encouraging .

Anyway, seems your problem was different to mine... adb devices recognised the Extreme, but insisted it was offline.

Perhaps my description was a bit alarming - a crack (widening) has appeared next to the headphone socket where the plastic is very narrow. The RMA process is very good - they sent me a postage paid label to print out (with some other returns I've had the companies involved expect you to pay for the return and then make you jump through hoops to claim it back) and when speaking to them it seems there is a batch with a similar problem next to the securing screw (methinks someone was too enthusiastic with a screwdriver).

For anyone remotely interested in progress on this I stripped out from Windows all the ADB drivers and then installed the ones from :

I can now connect to the Extreme via ADB.

I have a Scroll Extreme that has developed a similar crack to that described above, by the headphone socket and securing screw. I've rarely used the headphone socket but recently did, unfortunately its just over a month out of warranty . I quoted this thread to Storage Options but got a response back saying they are unaware of a faulty batch. Does BobC or anyone else have any details from similar issues that might help me?
