It's fixed......phew 8-) To make sure everything was as original as possible i took it all the way back to my stock (1st) backup made in CWM.

After re-boot it loaded with KLRichards favorite SO Balloon picture lol I then tested the screen rotation and everything checked out ok. So I hooked it back up to my PC again and copied over the CM9 20120611 rom with compatability and Gapp (I'm a little hesitant to use the 20120615 rom).

After another re-boot I was back to normal with just the usual setting up of apps again. I must say that after going back to stock this feels so much better :) even with just 20 mins of old stock FW it certainly brings home how much these guys have improved our beloved gadget.

+1 to all you guys that helped pull this CM9 and Suggsy89's roms together :ugeek:

I'm not really sure what caused the screen rotation to crash initially but at least i know now how to ressurect it again should it fail. I'm also not sure that it had to be original FW that i reloaded 1st but i do know that restoring the latest CM9 over it didn't fix it??? Anyway I hope this helps anyone else that may have the same problem as me.

So I'm going to try the CM9 20120615 rom with compatability and Gapp.
I assume I go into Clockwork recovery boot and load the main rom first and then immediately load the compatibility and Gapp mod after, then reboot and that's it?

@ danskmacabre,

I always do a factory reset and install the camera module when I install a new ROM, so I go...
1, Factory reset
2, Install ROM
3, Install Compatibility
4, Install Camera module
5, Install Gapps
6, Reboot

:!: I have all my data and apps backed up on my external sdcard :!:

@ danskmacabre,

I downloaded the camera module via the Update Me app on an earlier CM9 release...

When you have CM9 installed and set up your WiFi, you can download the Stock Camera Module, the Allwinner File Explorer and Allwinner Gallery via Update Me...

@ Nick.
Ah I see it's all done from within the Android OS when it's running via the update me app.
NPS easy enough.
Thanks a lot for the guidance. :)

Cool, I just updated to the latest CM9 rom and patched it as laid out earlier.
Used titanium backup to restore all my apps, saves etc.

It's running quite noticeably faster now.. Wow a real performance boost!
Very happy. :)
Thanks again all for the help.

Noticed a new rom came out recently.
Is it just a simple case of downloading it, rebooting into recovery and app, lying all teh patches again?
Do I have to restore all my apps again as well?

Does the update me work. Several times now it has told me there is an update. I have used it to download the ROM, the filename it shows after complete should indicate a new ROM but when I try and find it in the download folder it isnt there, just an older zip file which I have already installed. I have moved the file just to be sure, but it still downloads the older zip file. Now I dont know if it is a newer ROM, just with the same filename, or whether it is the same I already have.

Anyone shed any light, anyone experienced the same.

Regards

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I've found when i've downloaded anything from the update me app for CM9 it saves it on the main root of the drive if that's the right terminology??? like what would be the c:\ of your PC. I only know because i move it to the clockworkmod folder so i can remember where i left it plus i have a bit of OCD where storing files are lol i hate random file saves :ugeek:
