I didn't do a format as suggested by Piers, just loaded the ZIP file. Result is it works and all my apps and user details were there. Seems to work fine, but am I storing a problem for myself ?

Also battery seems to be running down quicker than before. Think others noticed this, anyn idea what setting to disable to stop this draw of power.

so far so good though.....

Thanks for support Mitre.

Well done Suggest look forward to next build, now I have an idea what I'm doing.... mind you what do they say about a little knowledge

Thanks for instructions Peirs, simple and concise, just my lack of experience concerned me....shouldn't have though, as they were spot on.

NO!!!!

Looks like my backups didnt work.

Now I have build 4.0.4 from the ZIP file, thought i would try and recover from the 4.0.3 backups, just as a trial, to make sure I could set it back, if I had to send the tablet back for fix of some sort.

THEY DIDNT WORK....

Booted to CWM and selected restore from Clockworkmod files. Pointed to the folders, and tried to restore. It said files not found... Eh!!! they are there.

So tried to rebuild from the ZIP file, it builds then when I re-boot, it goes past the flash screen (SO Ballon) and then just hangs on the ANDROID boot screen....

HELP....

Is my machine knackered

Trouble is cant even return it now, as I cant get it back to 4.0.3. Have I bricked this somehow... Cause I havent a clue what I've done that would have caused it.

Could it be my SD card is corrupt... Should I format the card, restore my backup copies to it and try again...

Anyone ????

Kevin

Phew.... got it back to 4.0.3.

Had to mount the sd card in CWM before restore.

Right, I can rebuild 4.0.4 again now....

God that was scarey

Glad you got it sorted - I was going to suggest that.

Sounds like you have had a real roller coaster ride Kevin, but I have a sneaking suspicion you are quite proud of yourself now and so you should be too. Although I have done similar to you with my Excel, and remained trouble free, I am amazed how much you have achieved in such a short time, it took me a lot longer to take the plunge and I congratulate you on your achievemnets. :D

Cheers. Think I've mentioned before, I've been in IT for over 25 years, from programmer to systems analyst, to senior consultant, project management and now programme management. I left the technical role behind about 15 years ago, so this new technology is "new" to me. But if I'm honest, its been fun playing around with it. Don't think I'll be an expert on android, but I'm starting to see where it has evolved from the technology of my days.

Cheers, all that was missing was the leap of faith. Once I found that I realised they made perfect sense.

Thanks again.... :D

Hey guys, i have been attempting this the last day or so and seem to be stuck so if anyone can help that would be great.
I have manged to get my windows PC to recognise the tablet however I cannot write to it. Got round this by using an external SD card to copy the needed files to and fro. I have managed to install ClockworkMod and can boot into it fine. Issue I am having is that when I choose the option to choose a zip file for SDcard or internal SDcard I keep getting Can't mount /sdcard

Can anyone help me on this please.

Oh and first post and really good forum
