@ KLRichards,

Download Gapps, then copy it to your external SD card, reeboot Extreme to recovery, choose 'install zip from sdcard' from the menu, select the Gapps zip...

The reason GAPPS are seperate (thanks to zerosignull on the Slatedroid post) - GAPPS are closed source copyrighted by google Android is not. Back in the day they used to be a part of Cynogenmod but the big G told them to remove them.

BTW Kevin, I am not having any problems with CM9 - working like a charm at the moment and iPlayer is near perfect.

Update of Christian Troy's CM9 issued today... CM9 20120607
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/All ... 120607.zip

or Update Me app on CM9 devices :)

* fixed: ip-up sets up NAT, now wireless tether (from tablet) works
* added: smartassV2 new default governor (not on A7HD because it uses a different kernel, read my request on slatedroid if you wanna use it
* added: volume control from system bar (it can be controlled from display settings; press "recent app" button to apply changes after toggling the checkbox)
* updated: cm9 sources

How does it compare with suggsy's rom? Is BBC inlayer and other flash video sync problems fixed?

Suggsys rom is great, far far better than stock. Christian Troy's CM9 also seems to fix the Iplayer/flash issue. CM9 does have a really good feel to it, hard to explain, but you will know what I mean after install! It also features an app called 'UpdateMe' which allows you to check for and download updates the ROM- a nice touch! In summary CM9 is well worth a look :D

Is there a particular version that works best on the Extreme and do I need to flash a compatibility zip as well?

go straight for the latest one & no compatibility zip is needed at all,the standard rom works absolutely fine

Madmatt30 can i ask a question? To carry out this flash with cwm and cm9, am i right in thinking you have to 'factory reset' the tablet?

The reason i ask is I've had trouble backing up my tablet using titanium backup prior to the cm9 flash (it kept freezing during its use) but i have backed up the tablet twice using cwm (when updating to suggsy89's fw). Is this the same kind of backup as i would hate to do this flash and loose the ability to restore it to as it is now.

Hope this makes sense......

titanium is used just for backing up apps+app data (which means apps can be restored back no matter what firmware is flashed to your tablet-it has nothing to do with the system files or rom side of things)
cwm ,if you do a full backup backs up the entire tablet (including the rom+all installed apps) as an image that can be restored to exactly the same as it was when the backups was taken including the rom (which means that it will resotre to the current suggsys rom that you have)
titanium is more of a convenience thing to save reinstalling apps&data
cmw backup is a full on safety feature ,if you know what I mean,if anything goes wrong you can restore the tablet entirely to its previous condition

do you have a lot of stuff installed?? & are worried about losing it??,I just redownload what I need for the play store tbh, once cm9 is installed any future cm9 updates can be done without losing any app or app data at all which is why Ill stick with it now

If you have a full cwm backup then you can try just flashing the cm9 rom, & in cwm just delete the cach, & the dalvik cahe in advanced option s before flashing - without doing any factory reset
I have an inkling that this works fine, infact Im sure Ive done it in the past - If it doesnt you can just reboot into cwm again & restore
also when downloading the cm9 rom also download the gapps zip file & flash this immediately after youve done the rom flash in cwm (otherwise youll have no play store when you boot)
