Vurtually everything I type shows as incorrect spelljing (underlined in red); this is even though I have set the laguage to English.
I must have missed something, but I don't know what.
Any suggestions ?

Hi Unkdb
i presume your on the extreme as thats where you posted i have had this on all 3 versions of ICS i have used on chinese tablets first noticed when i looked at build.prop and almost everything was underlined
keyboard/language and default all set to English UK
i just ignore it but not shure if its only on the allwinner tablets or more common accross ICS
if you turn off spelling correction in settings it dissapears
i think there is probably no dictionary installed in the ROM

LatinIme.apk is the keyboard, which contains the dictionary pack.
Most chinese builds do not contain this.
Solution, install a new keyboard from the market.

I haven't found a keyboard that fixes this problem yet; but a different keyboard has fixed this hissing noise I had which has beend reported elsewhere on these forums.

I installed swipe pal keyboard as it's the one I use on my desire HD but this hasn't fixed the issue. the keyboard has it's own dictionary and is correctly suggesting words as I type them, but the extreme is still underlining them in red once they're input. I've tried all the settings I can but still no joy. any ideas?

Really!!! There is no way to get the spell check working on Extreme?
How about this new keyboard called Adaptxt which has Predictive text and apparantely can do much more than standard keyboard. Its available in a few languages too. You can find it on Google Play. Have a look here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... aptxt.betaMake sure you follow the installation instructions in the video and also try it with disableling the standard spell check of extreme. See if it works.
Please post back results.

tried just disabling the extreme's spell check which has done the job. swipe peak has it's own dictionary so just using that.
if you definitely can't just import a dictionary for the extreme to use then thus its the next best thing. just another shortcut making this more affordable I guess.
