3rd time lucky

After posting elsewhere that I had already had two doa extremes the 3rd one arrived today. Absolutely brilliant...

I have scanned some of the posts in the forum regarding various issues such as keyboard delays, slow on youtube etc and so far, touch wood, I have found no issues at all.

I plugged it in and charged it for 4 hrs then started to try and break it. I should say I am testing this for use in classrooms as a cheaper alternative to the iPad.

Screen is very good and comparable with the iPad2. Screen taps are responsive and light. Occasionally the screen freezes for a second while downloading over wifi but that is likely to be my poor connection speeds rather than the Scroll.

Connection to the TV was excellent and I watched a portion of a film with no degredation and the lip sink was spot on as well.
Emails easy to set up, BBC news etc all good. I couldn't get iPlayer to work but I think I can sort that later. Android Market was easy to set up once logged into my google account...

My vodafone dongle didn't want to play but again I think I can sort that. Found an app that gives the security code for the Huawei dongle. Will fiddle with that tomorrow. Will also try and get it through the school proxy servers tomorrow. Again, I see no issues there with a couple of apps we have used before with android.

Speakers are naff but I use earplugs so that's no problem.

Over all, I am really pleased I decided to stay the course untill I got one that worked. For the price point it is brilliant. Well pleased.
My wife is pleased too, she is taking my Excell off me.... :(

Who's leg do you have to rub against at Ebuyer to get them returned that fast? I'm still waiting for my 1st return D:

The only way it can be done is to ask for a refund and order another which is delivered the day after. Granted it takes 5 to 10 days to get your refund so in this case I have paid for three of them and will eventually get two of them refunded...

I think @Sysiphus idea is a good one if you have the money available.

Sorry off topic: In 2007 I bought a TV from ebuyer and it developed a fault on day 2 - I got the Mrs to call up and the next day they picked up the old one in the morning and in that afternoon a new one was delivered. Ok they sent the same make but the model below I ordered by mistake. They sorted that out by the day 4 and refunded the original express delivery charge on the order and we got a £20 voucher.

I had a USB hub from them, only a £10 one, 4 of the 10 ports didn't work, they shipped a new one and didn't even ask for the old one back. So yeah, 6 port hub is still perfectly viable ;). Thanks!
Also, they once sent me a free ice scraper for cars with their logo on it.... Um, thanks?

I would take a car with their logo on it if they are offering. LOL

Just out of interest Sysiphus, when you got the Market working on the Extreme was it still a very limited choice of apps as in the stock excel image? I ask as although im on ics4 with the latest updates on the excel, whilst going through the various builds the Market apps avaliability differed a lot depending on the Build image. Im worried i get the extreme then struggle to find decent apps.

Cheers :)

When I tried the Market on my Extreme, I could see every app I knew about. Specifically, I looked up Sonic CD, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds Space, Engadget (AOL reader?), Astro File Browser (or something like that). All of them appeared and all except Fruit Ninja worked fine.
The only ones that appear to not work (without some tweaking) are ones that stream copyrighted music/video.
So I don't think you'll struggle to find decent apps unless you're entire reason for purchase was for Sky or Netflix etc.

I found the same as Cantisque in that as far as I could see all the apps I am used to seeing were there.

To be honest I use BAM, Best Apps Market for preference. http://www.bestappsmarket.com/p/app?id= ... pps-market
It gives you info on compatability before you download the app and have only found one that it recommended not to try. I much prefer BAM to googles latest marketplace offering in that it is much easier for an aged luddite like myself to navigate. :)
