Scroll being very slow

Hi all, been using my extreme for about 2 weeks now and having very annoying issues with speed. I find that simple apps like facebook, Any.Do, Google Play and many more can take upto a min to load, and quite often have a no of "wait or kill" prompts. I have Advance Task Killer Free installed and when I kill EVERYTHING i have a few mins at most before it all slows again, browsing the internet seems to take longer displaying the page than downloading it to view.

I'm no android expert, but I had this problem myself at first. I used Lookout Labs Ad Network Detector (as suggested by someone else on this forum, can't remember who) and found I had apps spawning other services. I removed those offending apps and all has been fine since.

also I used to have android task killer running which I thought waa a good way to kill rogue apps, to find it also slowed down my tab. I have force stopped task killer and do it myself now through the apps manager.

sorry if this is no help, but as I said i'm no android expert.

Hi DaBOOm, as you know we purchased our extremes about the same time. I have noticed the same thing about mine ad well, loading is slow, and then it hangs and says the browser is not responding snd asks if I want to wait or exit. I put this down to down loading a few apps, I've down loaded about 8, still have plenty of space available but this is the only thing I've done differently. Will try the app suggested by KL Richards.

Hi DaBOom don't know if your still logging on but the last time I replied to you was about slow running and stalling. I have recently changed my browser to chrome mobile, seems to be running much better, might be a fluke will let you know.

First thing to do with the Extreme is to get rid of the horrible firmware it comes with. It's some of the worst firmware I have ever seen. Install suggsy89s version or the CM9 one from slatedroid. Then go to developer options and tick the box that only allows 4 apps and also enable long hold of the back button to kill apps. ICS has a built in task killer that actually work very well.

Hi, I got mine the day it was released, was having problems with apps crashing, random reboots etc. Tried different browsers, underclocking, different adobe flash.
I thought at this point it was firmware but I decided to rma back to ebuyer. Was sent new 1 last week and so far I've not had a single reboot/crash/app stop responding.
My plan was to get the unit back and flash upgrade but not so sure now.
I think its strange that I had so many problems with my old stock that it must have been hardware fault. Unless the stock firmware didn't install correctly?

Just sharing my experience

Mine was the same, then I installed better firmware and it's been more or less perfect. Maybe some of the Extremes come with different kernels? Either way all the parts work as they should. Android 4.0.3 is notorious for reboots, crashing and general crap stability.

Hi Piers, I would love to update to 4.0.4 but just don't know how. I tried to follow the thread that you and suggsy86 where doing but it's way over my head. It would be great if you or Suggsy could make it very simple for the likes of myself and others to get this upgrade. I don't stand a chance other wise of getting this upgrade.

If you really have absolutely no idea whatsoever then please do be careful as you can easily brick your tablet.
Here is a link to a youtube video - it may not refer to your tablet but most of the principles you will see are relevant and will help you get some sort of understanding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fATLTulwdQg

Hi Trashcooky, thanks for this, I watched it and thought yes I can do that, but then about 40 mins, into the video he starts going on about scripts and clockwork mod or something like that and completely threw me. I guess I'll just have to wait and hope SO will update the firmware themselves.
