Personally I would find it useful to have a list of devices that work with the Extreme.

Doesn't Work
- CNM 80GB USB HDD [Piers]
- Hitachi 3TB External HDD [Piers]
- Samsung S2 (claimed damaged SD Card) [deadwing]

Works
- Sandisk Cruzer Blade: 16GB [Piers]
- Sandisk Cruzer Blade: 32GB [Piers]
- Freecom Toughdrive 500GB (with external power) [Gizzit]
- Various USB sticks [deadwing]
- SD card reader [deadwing]
- microSD [deadwing]
- Hitachi 320GB External HDD (with external power) [deadwing]
- Rii Mini 2.4GB Wireless Keyboard [deadwing]
- Kindle Keyboard (can transfer files) [deadwing]

Freecom toughdrive 500GB works with external power supply - not enough juice from the USB port alone to power the drive, but fine with separate power.

The first thing I did was format them :) I've only store music and some images on there so have never really seen a need for security.

BTW, anyone manage to get 3G dongles working yet? If so which model?

Just a quick message regarding USB powered hard drives such as western digital passport drives, some mobile devices cannot send enough power to the drives via one USB, so two are needed. You will require a "y' splitter one to send extra power and one for data.

Hope that's clear enough.

I wonder if the USB Host port would be suitable as 2nd the 'power' port? I personally would be a little concerned about overloading the power capabilities of the tablet, so perhaps a safer option would be to use an external power supply for the HDD. Most 2.5" portable drives have the option to use an external power supply (even though they don't tend to be supplied with them). I have a number of portable Freecom drives and a Formac drive and they all have an external power supply port.

If you happen to have a Sumvision Cyclone mini media player, the power adapter for that fits most 2.5" HDDs :)

Or, you could get something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5V-Freecom-ToughDrive-120GB-replacement-power-supply-/190677307872?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2c6540d1e0, they seem to be pretty generic from my experience

Just tried a few things.
Every USB stick, SD card reader and microSD card reader worked fine.

Hitachi 320GB external hard drive worked with external power.

Rii Mini 2.4GB Wireless Keyboard Touchpad worked perfectly - touchpad with arrow on screen and keyboard fine.

Kindle Keyboard - can transfer files.

Samsung S2 didn't work - claimed damaged SD Card.

Hope this helps.

WD My book 1gb works with external power fine. Will check if there is enough juice in the tablet to power it when I get my hands on it next.
