Hi I'm a newbee, still awaiting my Extreme... :)

Do you think the MOMO 11 Bird is the same as the Extreme?

They have firmware...

It seems to be the general opinion that this is based on the Ployer MOMO 11 Bird

I could be wrong but I think that firmware is older than most going around now.

Yeah that firmware does look older, but they may release newer firmware in the future...

As far as I know Storage Options get their tablets from them or SOK.

Here is what I know (I know someone who has an inside source at a tablet maker, dont ask which one as I dont want to get her in trouble):

These tablets are just like PCs really - Ployer and many other factories in Shenzhen, China use the same designs and parts to build their tablets - most are based off reference designs from the chipset makers which is why they are so similar. There can be slight differences between devices though in parts used so they are not always exactly the same even though they may look it.

I hear a lot of them use the same software house too for the ROMs.

Thanks for this information Johnny, its nice to help everyone understand the bigger picture.
Did you also know that these many tablet and Laptop/netbook builders in Shenzen, China employ the equivalent of the entire population of Leeds - all working every day - churning out tech to meet our demands.

Thanks for the info Johnny,
I've been searching around and there are indeed lots of devices with very similar spec, there are a few models with the chip overclocked to 1.5Ghz... I wonder if it's worth or even possible to overclock the Extreme to that speed and what effect that would have on performance and reliability...

No problem.

I have tried that Momo Bird Firmware on my Extreme and it worked but Suggsy's 4.0.4 build is much better - you can find it on this forum. Its much faster and more stable.

I wouldn't overclock the processor that much myself - if it did work it would use the battery up a lot quicker.

I think a lot of the '1.5Ghz' specs are actually the CPU running at 1.1Ghz and the GPU running at 400Mhz.

Also be aware that some vendors add the 1.2 GHz of the A8 to the notional 0.4 GHz of the Mali GPU in order to quote a figure of 1.6 GHz... check the specs
