Trouble with video files.

Not too sure if this has been posted before but is anyone having trouble with media files. I'm using MX Player and tried all the codec packs, also tried most of the others as well all with no success.

I use handbrake and Format Factory and have never had a problem until I used my Extreme. Files work fine in my DVD player (SD files only) Humax PVR, all my PC's, laptop, even my cheap Tesco TV with a USB stick. But I've failed to get anything to play on my Extreme using the internal or external memory, the thumbnails are just black with a time stamp in the bottom right corner. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Can you post a 30 second clip of something you are trying to play? Even a 10 second clip would do.

I'm (my wife) using MX Player. I didn't install any of the packs though. It hasn't let me down yet with all the formats I'm throwing at it e.g. AVI, MKV.

I used handbrake for a DVD movie to M4V format and that works too.

Is it just videos from your own conversions that don't work? If not then maybe the MX Player/Codecs are corrupted/conflicting. Perhaps try a clean uninstall first including any other players that are still on if any before reinstalling. I'm thinking in terms of what I'd do if it was a PC by assuming it's similar in terms of codecs and installations. It can't hurt.

Sorry for the delay.

All I get when I select the file is a black screen with the white 'working' circle and then the message comes up 'unable to play this video'. Then click ok and it returns to the MX Player file list.

Oh for a player like MPC and the full k-lite pack. Never had this problem with a PC.

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong thinking it's a PC. I've already uninstalled/reinstalled and removed other players in case of conflicts. I'm going to put some of these files in my SII phone to see if that plays them.

Forgot to add, the time stamp only appears after I've tried to run a file. Otherwise it's just a black rectangle.

try bsplayer lite (free from play store),its no frills but even plays windows 7/windows vista tv recordings - this is the only android player that Ive found that plays these - infact Ive not found a format/codec that it doesnt play at all
you may have to add file extensions to the settings box (for example I had to add wrm-tv extension to this to get windows 7 tv recording to show up as its an unknown format to the player) but once done you may be pleasantly surprised,it has a built in file manager which is how you select files to play - there is no automatic library population options & its clunky to select files but it is a good good video player once up & running

Didn't work either.

Becoming very annoyed with my extreme lately, has become very slow, browser not responding wait or ok message all the time, same message when entering settings menu. I've got two 32gb cards, both Transcend one class 4 the other 10. I'm wondering if somethings up with transfering files via USB so will put some on card direct from laptop and then use that.

Sorted, put files on 32gb card via laptop everything plays via MX or BS. Pur media on other card again plays fine. Changed USB cable no difference. Tried other files via USB all corrupted. Looks like the main USB socket is faulty.

Sorry Piers, couldn't see any point of a clip of black. I mentioned in another post somewhere that the build quality of mine was a bit off regarding the lineup of the inputs with the case. I think this is what's causing this problem. It just won't fit snug. The OTG seems fine.
