Video/Audio Sync Problems

I have several mp4 files, which I originally transcoded from mpeg2 TV recordings. When I play these back the audio gradually goes out of sync with the audio. This also happens if I jump straight to somewhere near the end of the file. These all play fine on my Samsung Galaxy 2 and also on all the video players on my Linux box.

I had this problem with certain MKV files on my PC. On some players the audio would lag but in others the same file was fine. I only got my Extreme last Friday so i don't know yet what players are available, but it may be worth looking into.

I was camping last week and I took my extreme with an external HDD to watch films/tv shows when the other half was sleeping in. I am just using Suggsy's build with whatever video player that is and they all worked fine. I didn't need to use any other software or codec's.

I have tried suggsy's build and still get the same problem. It's only videos that I originally encoded to watch on my Nokia. They are a fairly low bit rate and 320x240, so the decoder shouldn't really be taxed. It plays back all my high quality h264 encodings without a problem. The thing that's puzzling is that the problem videos all play back fine on my Galaxy S2.

I have also tried several different players with the same results.

You tried disabling HW acceleration for non HD videos? I had the same issue on mine and that fixed it.

Thanks, that helped on most of my problem videos.
