Just firing this one our there as I have googled and cant find anything, but does anybody know what are the chances of getting Windows 8 (RT) running on an Extreme?

Is there even a preview of RT available or a way of installing it?

Just interested in trying it as I have tested it on my PC and it seems far more suited to a tablet than a desktop.

It should be possible (ARM support) however I doubt any drivers out there will work for devices at the mo.

RT is a slimmed down version for arm tablets.

Pc version runs very fast on my first gen i5 system so not sure what's wrong with your i7.

haha haven't tried win8 outside a virtual machine. But considering windows 7 is pretty bad on here I'm guessing win 8 will follow the same trend :P Ahh didn't realise the tablet version was more slimmed down, would a single core still be sufficient though?

Probably not to be fair. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a dual core minimum requirement by MS.

Saying that a guy at work installed the standard version on an intel atom based tablet and he said it was pretty rapid. That was single core.

Windows 8 preview ran nicely on my i7, but it's still a terrible operating system. They have gone back in time for their support of Eyefinity/Triple monitors - it made it unusable.
