USB Serial port Adapter

Hi

I just got my scroll extreme unit, couple of questions:

Does the unit support usb serial adapters (FT232) type, there is an application (slick usb) which is supposed to support this device but it doesn't work on the extreme.
I tried the usbdevice id app and the adapter is recognised as a linux device by this but not listed as an android device, Can anyone give me a pointer as to what to do to get this working (if it is possible)
Also is there a directory where system messages are stored, i.e. /var/log for example
any help appreciated
rob

Same issue here with FT232R and the Scroll Evoke on Jellybean 4.1.1
FT232 shows up as a linux device but not as an android device.

Interestingly the Scroll Pocket (ICS) works fine with Slick USB , Android USB serial monitor lite and the "USBSerialExamples" I compiled... I can access serial data from an external GPS.
The FT232R DOES show up as an android device in the Scroll Pocket.
