Hi
Has anyone managed to take a decent picture with the 2MP camera on the xtreme, mine is more like a 0.3MP camera, any comments would be welcome. I am beginning to think there is something wrong with my tablet camera

I don't think the problem is with the camera itself but the way the image is heavily compressed when storing it. I have tried using other Camera apps which give less compressed piccies but most of them have some sort of oddity that means I haven't abandoned the standard camera app. Some won't let you choses between front and back cameras for instance.

thanks bobc
I took two 2MP pictures, one taken with the scroll, the other with an old 2MP camera I have, there is a major difference in quality especially as they are both similar sizes.
I wonder if the scroll camera really is a 2MP sensor?

Can't speak on the accuracy of the specification description for the camera, but I would imagine that Storage Options would be in a lot of trouble if they were not up to the advertised spec. There has been a lot of comment about the camera software and there has been significant improved performace reported on some forums where a custom ROM with tweaked camera software has been flashed.
Of course also - as with any camera, it doesn't matter how many Mpixels the CCD has got if you have got a crap lens then you will always end up with a crap picture anyway. Most people, when they buy these tablets consider that if the camera does anything at all then its a bonus - after all they are all Chines boxmade knock-offs not i-pads.

Well said Trashcooky.
It amazes me how many people think that cameras on phones and tablets are good cameras as they are 5meg or something like that.
I have an old Cannon digital 3 meg camera and someone was amazed hownit took a far better photo than their 6 meg camera. But as i said to them, mine is a camera with a real optical high quality lense. Theirs have a fixed lense which means the photonhas rely on the s/w, and cant zoom, it does a s/w zoom.
Dont buy a phone or tablet for the camera, that is the most ridiculous thing you could do.
I only expect WebCam functionality out of a tablet or phone camera.

I don't usually advertise non tablet links product on the site but I got one of these for less than £60.00 including postage and I am very pleaased with it. Not a professionals camera but the stabilisation at 8 x zoom is amazing. It is old technology now but started out in the Uk at just under £200.00. I am well pleased:

I've always thought of Phone and Tablet cameras as more of a bit of fun. They are useful if you are out and about and want to capture a quick photo or video, but apart from that they are pointless. I have a Nikon DSLR for photos and a Fuji point and shoot.
