Bricked Extreme?

Hi Guys,

I got my scroll extreme a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd try installing CWM using the terminal emulator method directly on the tablet. I unpacked the file, copied it to /data and ran the install script. Ever since then the table won't boot. I get the backlight but nothing else. I read a post that suggest the extreme doesn't unpack rars very well so maybe I've fallen fowl of that. Anyway I've tried getting adb and livesuite going but neither recognise the device. I've tried to install a few usb drivers but the only one that installs is from livesuite. adb doesn't list any devices though.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas of what I can do to fix it?

Cheers,

Gary

There is already a thread similar to this here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2957

Hi Trashcooky,

Thanks for the link.
I had already read most of those posts and none of them seem to be quite the same as what I've done.
I think I'm at the same point Morph was at in this post http://scrolltabletforum.co.uk/site/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=2457&start=20#p22622
I can't see any resolution to hist last post in that thread, hence my post.

I've tried numerous usb drivers from various other posts and I can't get windows to see the tablet.
I have even tried the linux sdk and it still isn't recognised. (I'm a bit more at home with linux :D )

I was hoping that someone might be able to point me to another usb driver that might just work.

I'm thinking I've trashed it properly and might have to send it back.

I'm hoping that if I can't access the device then SO might not also and replace it.

It's my own fault really, leapt before I looked :D

cheers,

Gary

Gary,

These are the PDAnet drivers I use.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/75727361/PdaNetA350x64.exe

EDIT: Oops, as Barry point's out, I better mention they are the Win 7 64bit drivers.

The PDAnet drivers are the only ones that worked for me.

I'm on Windows 7 64bit.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the PDAnet drivers suggestions.
I had already tried the 32 bit ones and just tried the 64 bit ones with the same result.
It installs and gets to the bit where you plug in the tablet and it shows up as an unknown device in device manager but nothing else.
It doesn't try to install any drivers for the device.

Not sure what else I can try except maybe return it and see how far I get.

Stupid question maybe but are you using the USB ports on the mobo and not ones on the front of the case/hub are you?

Another perhaps stupid question but how are you trying to install these drivers ? The way people usually get things working is directly from the device manager... right click on driver with exclamation mark, choose update driver...navigate to correct driver and then update. If this is what you have already done then I apologise for being condesending - but if you don't ask, you don't find out.Hope you overcome.

@whistler23: I'm not sure what you mean? are you talking about the usb ports on the scroll? I'm using the one marked with the usb symbol (i.e. not the USB-HOST one)

@Trashcooky: I ran the PDANet .exe and got to where it asks you to plug in the tablet. After cancelling the install tonight, I noticed that there were some driver files in the pdanet directory under 'Program files' so tried installing them and eventually they installed. (for the record I was using the same method you suggest for installing drivers. btw, I take no offence at someone asking how I'm doing something as I might be doing it completely wrong and you're trying to help!) I now get Android ADB Interface in 'device manager' but when I run 'adb devices' it shows nothing.

One step forward maybe?

Gary

When I say 'nothing' I mean it doesn't show any devices. It does show 'List of devices attached' ...and then nothing
