Google woes

I'm after a little help with sorting out my access to google play so if anyone can point me in the right direction please that would be a great help!?
I've had my Extreme for a few months now and as frustrating as it's been to own I'm determined to percevier with it as long as I can before finally throwing it out of the window
Up until today, I'd used it mostly for watching movies on using MX player (which I luv!) and actually the quality of the picture is plenty good enough for me. I've also downloaded the occasional game and a few apps with no real problems.
Today however, I've turned on my Extreme and all my automatic updates for my apps have failed and when I try to download any of them manually from Google Play I just get an error message (error retrieving information from server [RPC:AEC:o] ). I can't even download any new apps as I get a similar error. No issues with wifi oir downloading as I've tried a couple of other sites just to double check so I'm assuming it's an issue with Google Play.
Digging around on this forum some people seem to have had a similar issue and got around it by logging out of Google on their tablet and then using a different gmail address to log back in, only problem is I can't work out how to log out of my existing Google account!
So, if anyone can come up with any help or advice would be much appreciated before I give my extreme a terminal flying lesson
