Connecting to PC

I'm totally new both to any kind of tablet computer and to anything running Android, so please excuse ignorance.
In the instructions on the FAQ page for connecting to a PC by USB, one of the steps is "On the device home screen click the physical menu button and select notifications." When I do that I get a pop-up at the bottom right with three items: "Wallpaper", "Manage apps" and "System settings". No mention of "notifications". This is after the Windows new hardware wizard has appeared, showing that the USB connection is functional, and has been cancelled.

What next?

Richard

Hi Richard, First thing is that I am moving this post as you have put it in the How to Guides (where the answers are given) I shall move it to "Help requests all models" for the time being. If you later confirm you have an Extreme then I can move to the Extreme help.

To be able to fully use a usb to PC connection you need to have usb debug turned on in settings/developer options - put a tick in the box. Also if you do have an Extreme, then make sure you use the usb socket on the tablet, not the host socket.
If you need any more help then just ask.

OK, and yes I do have an Extreme, bought yesterday.

Yes, I did take a little while to notice that there are two sockets.

Many thanks. I think I'm OK for the time being: anyway I've got some files copying across.

Bearing in mind the limited built-in storage capacity, I think I'd better get a micro SD card or two as well.
