Update advice for Extreme

Hi, I've spent a few days going around in circles between various forum threads getting confused about what I need to do to update my Scroll Extreme from it's shipped config - ICS 4.0.3. It's performed miserably since I got it but I've lost a few of the things it shipped with so I'm unable to return it to Storage Options and thus I'm looking to update it.
I've watched the tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fATLTulwdQg on how to update a device to a new image using Livesuite and that seems like a more straightforward option than the CWM software from what I've seen so what I guess I'm after is...
A point towards a good performing, stable updated Livesuite image for the Extreme that I should consider using.
Associated Windows USB drivers for the scroll Extreme so it is recognized properly in Device Manager. (Do the USB drivers vary depending on the image or the software (Livesuite/CWM) that you are using?)
Am I missing anything else, can anyone help?
Apologies as this information is most probably out there, I'm just having difficulty pulling the various threads and distributed gems together & getting confused about the various images and software being used/discussed
Many thanks in advance
Steve
