hello,

I have managed install basic stock rom meets my needs on my scroll extreme, i think..

Model Number: Scroll Extreme
Android Version: 4.0.3
Build Number
03F2-P1-H2-M01-1796.20120316

The only issue am having is play store says apps are not compatible with my device...well i used these apps before and i now work fine.. for example Boat Browser does this,but i manually installed from apk file and it works.looks good on 10" as well..

anyway been googling,and is a mention of changing the dpi density in build.prop (ro.sf.lcd_density=240)..i tried this with couple of numbers , then launcher stopped working message over and over.

had to adb push build.prop (ie a backup), back to tablet to fix without the ro.sf.lcd_density=240 line..

so now am puzzled again,does anyone now of good number to use ?? or another way to fix this issue ??

or am i in completely wrong direction and i need new apk of the play store for example ??

Glad to see that you managed to get up and sort of running again even if you still have problems.
The DPI in the build prop is certainly one of the things interrogated by Play store and as you say I am sure many of these apps will run OK once you have them installed - but the question is how.

I have completely bricked one of my cheap Chinese tablets simply by changing the DPI in the build prop however, if you want to try again then you could prabably do a lot worse than trying this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... VkaXRvciJd

This app (see link) will give you the opportunity to try and spoof your device as something else as it is not only the DPI which is interrogated by Play Store but also the device signature which will be for whatever the ROM is that you managed to flash.

The device identity can also be manually edited in the build-prop but this can not be done willy-nilly and I don't know enough to guide you, however I do know that you can't do it using Windows notepad as this corrupts the line returns which have been set up in Linux.

At least using the build-prop app you can choose some pre-configured settings but be prepared to go back to start as if you get the wrong set up the device will either boot-loop or freeze on you.

Sorry I can't be much more help but perhaps others can who have already been down this road.

Of course you could always side-load these apps if you have another device to download to first.

I don't know much about the Nexus 7 as I don't have one but side-loading is when you have an original download of a app on one device and to put it on another device you copy it using either a PC or an SD card or a USB stick as a transfer medium.

When you get an app from Google Play-store it is normally sent to a folder named Download/s and unless you delete it this downloaded copy of the app should remain available. You need to use a file explorer like ES file explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lkLnBvcCJd to navigate to the download folder and then copy and paste the desired app using your preferred method of either hooking up to a PC via a USB lead, use an SD card/Micro SD card or a USB stick - in order to transfer this copy to a second device.

Once you have copied the app onto your temporary storage, put the SD card/Micro SD card or USB stick (or connect your device to your PC via USB) with the medium containing the app and using ES file explorer or your stock file explorer, navigate to where you want to paste the app on the second android device (the download/s folder on the second device.) paste the copy and then install it by selecting it from there.

This will work with the original app but your previous game scores and status updates will not be transferred. If the game has a cloud facility with web log-in to play then you should be able to simply carry on from where you last left off but otherwise you will be starting from scratch.

Some Web services will know the game is installed on a different machine to the one you downloaded it to - as when Play-Store interrogates your device it knows whether this is the device that you downloaded your purchase to or not and if this happens you may well be prompted to purchase the app again - which you don't want to do as Playstore has already told you it is incompatible with your devices current signature.

If the app installs and plays OK on the second device you might be able to copy the games additional data from one device to the other using the method already described above but you will need to discover where these files are. If you are lucky you may find a folder with the game's name on the original machine with the apps data files inside but this will be hit and miss.

ok after installing es file explorer and enabling root access plus show hidden files found lots apks in

/data/app

Now to upload to dropbox and then grab em on other tablet and see..wish me luck!!

A method that's worked great for me is to use Astro File Manager (free or Pro version), and use it's App Backup function to find the desired app and back it up. It'll create an APK and pop it into the backups directory.

Attach the N7 to your PC or Mac and grab the apk, then email it to yourself on the other device and install it. Worked well for me, and no rooting.

Only works on downloaded or purchased apps, not system apps.
