Extreme II Stuck

Postby kneerm » May 9th, 2014, 9:57 am

My Extreme II is suck on scrolling Android Screen.

I have tried to reset but that does not work.

Is there any way I can overcome this without having to send it for repair?

This is my 3rd replacement and is no longer under warranty, the previous 2 also had this problem.

If I am forced to send for repair £30 is there any way I could recover or reset myself if it should happen again?

Regards

Sounds like the firmware has become corrupted and you are in a boot loop - unless you know how to re-flash the firmware or use ADB then looks like you are stuck with this problem.

Sorry but do not have firmware on the forum for the Extreme II. The only support that Storage Options appear to offer is this on their web pages.

" We do not provide an out of warranty repair service, but can recommend our approved service company based in the UK"

Trashcooky having sent it for repair and having Jellybean installed rather than ICS within days the same problem happened.

Any reason why ROMS are not being ported to the Extreme II?

Hi kneerm,

The main reason we don't have any up to date firmware on this site any more is that the forum is no longer being effectively supported by knowledgeable members (Scroll owners) who in the light of lack of support from the dealership "Storage Options" have left the forum, so no one is pulling the firmware (ADB commands) from their tablets any more to provide a library of current stock images.

We have very few new members joining the forum nowadays as the Scroll range is virtually considered defunct by its users.
Although you can still buy Scroll tablets (many old stock at knock down prices) their specification is all too easily outclassed and often less expensive from other manufacturers and if you can't get support from the "Scroll" suppliers then you might just as well go Chinese import like I did earlier this year: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3565

It is a shame as we had a very vibrant and knowledgeable community on here at one time. My original series 1 Scroll Excel has recently died after many years of faithful service and a chequered upgrade history starting with Gingerbread 2.2 and ending up with a pseudo JellyBean, which I think was finally too much for its limited 512 Mb rom and 4 Gb Ram.

Sorry your Extreme II is down and out again (can you complain to the repairers ?) I'm afraid the only possible help I can offer is that you try getting assistance from http://forum.xda-developers.com/ who have android experts from all over the globe in their forum. Trouble is though that the Scroll tablets are not looked upon by those in the know as worth supporting any more but you might find some archived solutions if you search their pages.

Often you can go on the spec rather than the model badge as Scroll issued many tablets that were in the same mould as Mobo, and all sorts of others but you will have to do a fair bit of research to track down a simile for the Extreme ii.

Sorry I am only the moderator on here and not a developer but I wish you luck anyway. :D

Thanks so much for your comprehensive explanation, to be fair to the repairers did in fact part refund me my postage cost as well as the repair cost.

I actually put the refund towards an 8 inch Rapid 5 tablet (£110 + P&P):
CPU - ARM QUAD-CORE Cortex A7 (MAX 4 x 1.5Ghz)
MALI 400MHZ GRAPHICS PROCESSOR
Screen - 8" 1024 * 768 IPS Display Capactitive Five point touch screen
Memory (RAM)- DDRIII 1GB
Storage - 16GB
External Storage - Supports upto 32GB tf-Card (micro sdhc card)
WiFi - 802.11b/g/n
Camera - FRONT 1.3MP and REAR 2MP - Dual Camera
G-Sensor - YES
OS - ANDROID 4.2 JELLY BEAN
Battery 3800mAh
HDMI - Standard Mini HDMI port
USB - Micro USB port
Earphone - 3.5mm earphone jack
Tablet size - 8*135*200mm

Find it really nice size and as yet reliable, no gps or bluetooth but hey £114.

No forum that I can find as yet

Looks like you have joined the Scroll deserters like me - lol.
Good spec and reasonable price too, it is nice to have at least 720p HD resolution which I find works well on the 8" 4x3 format.

I use my Tablo as a mini TV in my bedroom and apart from the sound being a little weak it works very well.

Although the channels are a bit limited and even with adblock software you are still forced to watch adverts before you can get on to the channel proper, I find it works a treat and suits the 4 x 3 format very well.
