Excuse my simple (probably) lack of understanding here, but please HELP!
I want to flash my Extreme to the latest suggsy rom. I have downloaded Clockwork mod from Play and it's on the tablet. I have downloaded the rom and it's on the sd card.
I have tried a number of times to reboot into CWM by holding down the power button and the vol down button (or vol up button, or both, tried em all). All I get is a little Android lying down with a red triangle.
Within the app when I choose Flash Clockworkmod recovery it finds my Scroll Extreme the says "SE does not have an officially supported Clockworkmod recovery yet. Have you installed a Clockworkmod based recovery manually?"
Well, erm HAVE I? Don't know!
If I say yes I get a choice of CWM 2x or CWM 3x. ??????????
PLEASE someone kind, do a walkthrough with nice easy screenshots!

I had this problem kaj so I reread through my thread to see what I did and unfortunately it just worked. Not sure what it was I did. Hopefully someone that is much more experienced than I will help.

I installed cwm from from manager as well and I remember the two options and tried both and got the lil man lying down then it just worked. Sorry not much help.

Don't know if Suggsy included CWM in his 4.0.43 for the Extreme like he did with the Excel.

@Suggsy did you include CWM in the Extreme 4.0.3 ROM - which you have to flash first so you can then update to 4.0.4 using just CWM?
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Having been driven mad by LiveSuits, Android SDKs, CWM, Terminal Emulators, all manner of stuff and getting nowhere, I have just one question. CWM is on the tablet, installed from Play. I have backed everything up. Scroll Extreme 4.04 zip is in the internal storage. If I just click on Install ROM from SD card it takes me there.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I JUST CLICK ON IT? Was it really that simple all along?

On another note, alot of helpful stuff to do with is is under the heading "I'm giving up" and while that's how I feel, it isn't helpful in finding info!

Update Tuesday 5th

Someone please tell me if it's safe/useless/unwise to just click on the Install rom from sd card and do it!
Scared to do it without advice.

Hi,

I have a scroll extreme and tried following the terminal method above but I think I bricked my new toy :(

Downloaded:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4364278/Extreme ... covery.rar from link above

unrared and copied contents to /data using
$su
#cat /mnt/extsd/CWM/recovery.img > /data/recovery.img
#cat /mnt/extsd/CWM/install-recovery.sh > /data/install-recovery.sh

ran install-recovery.sh
#cd /data
#chmod 755 install-recovery.sh
#./install-recovery.sh

the prompt dissappeared and returned after 5-10 seconds.

I thought everything had gone well but...

rebooted and now nothing except the backlight, not even the SO balloon screen ;-(

Holding the power button for 10secs turns the scroll off.

Tried :
- Hold Vol- / Menu Key then press and hold Power key for a second or two, Let go of Power, wait a second, let go of Menu
- booting with no keys pressed

I have installed the SDK for ADB but the PC does not see the tablet, though I am not sure this is set up properly with the drivers. I installed livesuit 1.07 (for the drivers) and as far as I can tell this cannot see the tablet either. Also I am not sure which usb port on the scroll to use so tried both.

Is there any way back from this?

Can anyone help?

TIA

Do you have access to another PC? If so it's always worth trying it again using the PDAnet drivers. That should hopefully fix it.
Cheers,

Hi Piers,

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the PDAnet drivers from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php. Unfortunately they won't install as they can't detect the device. I tried on Wondows 7 x64 & an XP x86 box but no joy. There is no indication that the device is being detected by device manager on either PC.

I think its dead and don't hold out much hope of reviving it without finding out how to blow boot load sw from scratch.

Just for info in case anybody is interested...I made a copy of /dev/block/nandg before I rebooted and comparing this with a fresh copy of the recovery.img I can see they are identical for the first ~7MB and then they differ with the old few bytes here and there missing from the flashed copy. Hence, I am pretty sure that the recovery.img I used was corrupt and I think this was caused by unraring the archive on the scroll itself (using some unrar sw I downloaded from play).
