Which Model Tablet To Buy?

Hi ,
I'm looking to buy a Scroll tablet.

Storage Options 53715 Scroll Excel 7 inch Android 4.0 ICS Capacitive Touch-Screen Tablet with 3D Output @£99
or
Storage Options Scroll Essential 7" Android Android 2.3 Tablet @£65

From reading the forum it looks as though I could update the operating system of the cheaper version to Android 4 (ICS)?
I don't have, and am unlikely to have a 3D tele. What other hardware or other benefits would I miss out on for my £65 compared to £99?

If anybody could give me the knowledge I'd be very grateful.

Remember that the cheap one as you put it (the Essential) has a resistive screen and I don't think that we have a fully working ICS update for that. I know that Piers has flashed ICS onto his essential but I also believe he had to hunt for a resistive screen driver before it worked fully. (what do you think Piers?)

If you go for the Excel which costs a little more, personally I think you are getting a lot more bang for your bucks. The Excel has a capacitive screen and I believe currently comes with ICS installed anyway. (This may depend on where you buy it from!) If you get an Excel that has Gingerbread still on it, chances are very good that you will find what you need on the Forum to flash it up to ICS 4.0.4

Use the search facility and you will find loads of threads and how to's to help you along.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning that way.
I just needed someone to convince me to spend the extra!

The Essential and Excel are the same tablet but, like Trasycooky said, the Essential has a resistive screen. Personally I find that for the £35 difference I would buy the Essential again. There is now a fully working ICS rom available which includes Play store and everything else (created by suggsy89).

I have two Essentials and one Extreme (one Essential for the wife) and think it's excellent value for £65. It's up to you but my choice would be the Essential...unless you don't like resistive screens.

Thanks for the confirmation Piers, any chance of a link to this rom to help our friend out if he changes his mind and does buy the Essential on your recommendation.

Both of your references take you to the same place - the 53715. So I would say nothing to choose between them :)

Where is the 54585 ?
